Been looking on the EE here and also Armslist for a SCAR 17, and on Armslist seeing a bunch of listings for FDE scar 17's for between $2000-2500
those prices seem extremely low, and the fact that there's about a dozen recent listings like that, which has me suspicious do you guys think those listings are probably bullshit? |

Quoted:
87% of armslist listings are a scam. While I can't attest to the credibility of armslist, I can say that he is messing with you throwing out the "87". If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Best bet is to try and find a local deal and see it in person. |

Dealers around here sell FDE Scar17s for 2500 NIB, which is a violation of FNH's MAP Policy. Ask me how I know.... I'm not one to call up FN and rat on someone, but it hurts small businesses that are trying to get going and didnt go out to get a loan and put 40k worth of inventory on the shelf.
obviously, you dont need me to tell you that if you see a new in box Scar 17 at anything at or below 2600.00, you'd be an idiot not to buy it. |

Got a guy offering me a Scar-H Black (boo! wish it was tan) for $3500 w/ the following upgrades: Timney trigger, Adco-cut bbl to 14.x w/pin/weld SF brake to 16.1", ACR stock, mrex rail, magpul modified grip, ambi safety. FO or No-FO? I'd have to scrape and beg to try to find that kinda coin right now but it's like cc maxout time w/FHRC looming... Rifle or Neckbeard primers/powder/projos? |

If he paid 3k for it, then its not a terrible deal..... Who cares if its black... They arent going to ban spray paint.
I'd counter him at 3350 and see if he jumps on it. Even though you dont like black, you can probably hang onto it and sell post election for a lot more. |

I saw a scar 17 with 6 magazines, acog and rmr go for 3500 on a local sales site for florida. I'm pretty sure it was legit because a week later I saw the exact same scar and magazines ,from another seller, sans optics, go for 3600... and sell. makes me feel even worse about the bone stock fde 17 i was considering buying for $3400 -_- lol |

So dont feel to bad. Its the new norm. I just cant spend that much on it. For that kind of bread i'll get a trg 22 in 260 rem. that has been my dream gun for years. |

I use armslist, even for non-FTF deals. While admittedly a little risky I've never run into problems by using a little common sense.
1. Is the price way too cheap on a very 'high status' firearm? If it's a SCAR 17 for $2200, an HK MR762 for $2500, etc, that's a big red flag. 2. Is the location listed as 'State, State'? For whatever reason, 90% of scams list the state twice rather than city, state. Big red flag. 3. Do a reverse google image search, often times you'll find the exact picture in use somewhere else. Big red flag. 4. Do their emails sound funny or vague? I like to discuss specifics of the firearm, this also weeds out most scammers that just copy/pasted description. 5. Lastly, can you get them on the phone? Using the above, I've done tons of non-FTF deals with expensive items, and am currently batting a thousand. I've also weeded through TONS of scams, so YMMV. |
