I am seriously debating getting a PS90 here soon, however my biggest concern is the limitations of the caliber. I fully understand that 5.7 isnt designed to be a long range man stopper however I routinely shoot out past 200 meters and I would really like it if the PS90 could perform decently at 200m.
Is 200 meters out of the question with the 5.7? What kind of accuracy are you guys getting at those ranges? I am not expecting a tack driver, but being able to get all in a torso size target at 200m is what I am hoping for. |

Keep in mind the PS90 is a Personal Defense Weapon not an Assault Rifle. It is meant for armor crew members, pilots or anyone needing a small portable weapon that is better than a pistol for its primary intended use.
Google 5.7x28 terminal ballistics SS197 40 gr V-Max (2100 ft/s out of PS90) 5.7x28: approx 267 lbf-ft at 100 yd SS195 28 gr JHP (2480 ft/s out of PS90) 5.7x28: approx 266 lbf-ft @ 100 yd SS196 40 gr V-max (1900 ft/s out of PS90) 5.7x28: approx 218 lbf-ft @ 100 yd At 200 yards with a 40gr bullet the energy is around 150 lbf-ft Basically, it's a tad stronger than .22LR out of the muzzle...lol 200 yards is about the outside edge of the weapons effective range. The P90, at close range with a happy switch and a 50 rd mag is going to ruin your day. At 200 yards I would rather have something else. If you plan to engage at average distances of 200 yards you really should get a 223 or 308, there are far better weapons and far better rounds, especially for self-defense. |
| I just sold mine, and never attempted anything close to 200 meters with it, but I'd say you'd have to have it in some sort of vice to get small groups at that distance. It's not that the gun lacks accuracy, just the fact that bench shooting and / or prone shooting is awkward combined with a less than stellar trigger would make this pretty challenging. Could you hit a torso sized target? Probably. |

let me chime in here..
just this past weekend I took my newly acquired black gi ring sight out to zero it at the range. At 50 yards I could not get it on paper.So after many rounds I decided to try it at around 30- 40 feet...dead nuts!! hmm ..that threw me off.In an attempt to try on the 100 yrd range I was only able to get on the 200.what the heck here goes nothing...200 yrds I put every round on one of those birchwood casy black circle targets..guessing the circle is around 12 inches across..so to answer some previous question..yes the ps90 can reach out there with ease ..again I was using no magnification and American eagle ammo. |

| I managed sub paper pie plate groups with a 1.5x at 300 yds off the bench. The target was just a big white 24x36 paper without any distinct "target" to aim at - just sort of approximated and fired about one shot per second. I was surprised at how tight it was given everything else mentioned. So yeah, you can hit torso sized targets farther out, but it would probably just piss them off real bad. |

I have done better a few times but not enough to brag about it. It can be done but not with the American eagle ammo |
