I am wondering about the SCAR rear sight. Are they made by FN specifically for the SCAR? Does anyone have a source for them sold seperately, or are all allocated for the SCAR?
It seems like a rival to the KAC 200-600 BUIS, and I'm surprised that they aren't more popular on AR15s. |

It's a biggish sight compared to the KAC. I believe it is a unique part to the SCAR, I've never seen one on another rifle. I love mine on my 16S SBR.
I have seen them for sale on gunbroker as one off take offs in the past and a few online stores list them for sale, but they are usually out of stock. |

I pulled my 16S out of the safe and threw my spare AR rear on it for comparison. This is very unscientific and I have not measured anything other than eyeballing it. Fast Potatocam: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/JsARCLIGHT/IMG_0014_zpsc910a726.jpg By my eyeball the SCAR rear sight sits just a smidge taller than the AR sight. You can look down the sights with both rears installed and the SCAR front and rear align but the AR sight set to the open peep is noticeably lower. If I had to attribute an arbitrary unit of measurement I'd say it's like 1 or 2mm lower. Quoted:

Not the right height to work with an AR15. I pulled my 16S out of the safe and threw my spare AR rear on it for comparison. The only downside of the KAC seems to be the fixed small aperture, and this sight seemed to solve that... but alas, the height is incorrect. oh well. |

They are the same height or the difference is so small it is impossible to tell. You can use it with any AR front. |
