I just got done cleaning my L1A1, then moved onto my SCAR 17. I got to the gas system, and the piston needed tapping out with a cleaning rod, as usual. After I picked it up and started cleaning it, I went back to clean the piston/regulator housing.
As I was getting done, it occured to me that I hadn't seen the piston spring. I was worried that while running patches and brushes and boresnakes through the barrel with the upper horizontal, I might've somehow snagged it and sent the spring across the room into piles of gear and boxes and other stuff in the room... effectively making it disappear. So I looked for it... then I wasn't sure if it existed. I just spent part of the night looking around the internet seeing if anyone has any really detailed assembly and disassembly, or if there's an exploded diagram of the 17to confirm for me that there is such a thing as a piston spring or that there is not, or if I'm just losing it since I was cleaning my L1A1 first and expecting a piston spring to be there. ![]() ![]()
Can somebody confirm for me that the SCAR 17 does or doesn't have a piston spring? - Rotating day/evening/night shifts suck. ![]()
