I've been shooting "weak" Tula no problem when the gas switch was set to the correct position (It short strokes on the wrong setting). All my shooting has been in warm weather (80+). The other day it dipped down into the 30's or 40's and I expereienced the following:
The gun would short stroke for the first 5 or six rounds. It ejected, but then closed on an empty chamber. These were hand cycled in quick succesion. Then it would shoot without any problems. I put the gun down after shooting two mags. I did this again about 30 minutes later. Same exact scenario. I'm guessing that it may have been temperature related. On a side note, the SR-25 short stroked once on the first three shots of m80 surplus which it normally has no problems with. Is it normal for gas operated guns to be affected by colder weather like this or is my experience a total coincidence? If so, should I enlarge the hole on the SCAR? I know Tula is considered crap by many, but I want it to be as reliable as possible. The SR-25 is another story altogether - It's a finicky eater. |
| Yes it's normal for temperature to affect cartridge performance. The colder the temp the less performance you're going to get. i.e. lower velocity, altered trajectory, poor cycling, etc... Couple that with already shitty underpowered shitty QC'd ammo and you're gonna get all sorts of fun malfunctions. |
