so I finally figured out why every time I went to the range my POI was off (low and right) from where I had zero'd it the day before.

At first I thought it was the temperature changes or that I had banged the rifle in my truck during travel. Once zero'd the cheap little optic in the Standard does hold its zero very well after several mags, so I couldn't figure out why it moved after each trip. The problem in my case, I finally found out, is when Iput the cover back on after my zero was set. I would do this after I was done shooting and packing thins up so naturally the next time I went out my POI was off, so I would repeat the zeroing procedure and so the insanity continued.

Finally figured it out. The little rubber grommet inside the cover was getting jammed and pushing the scope up and left, hence my consistently low and right shots.

Unless someone has a better idea, I'm thinking of cutting that rubber piece out and give my scope breathing room when putting the cover back on.

A much better way is to replace that optic altogether with a red dot that fits under the cover (Standard looks goofy without it), but that's probably the #1 or #2 question new FS2000 owners ask on this forum..  can't believe no one has found one yet.

Just aguess...but wouldn't an Aimpoint micro fit?  Then a person could use as many spacers as needed to get it just so?

nope, too big, tried it. Same for Spark. The only way would be to cut out a hole for the power knob but that would look like shite.

Were you able to try any of the mini reflex sights?

like those Burris fastfires?  good idea, I actually have one on my shotgun. Didn't even think of those but if it can handle shotgun recoil should work with 5.56, will try it.

just checked and it does fit.

the only issue I can see is the rail screw(s) and of course the right riser, but this may work

It looks cool man! Looks like the UNSC battle rifle from Halo.

Thats the Assault rifle.  Battle rifle had a top mounted scope and a longer barrel [looks more like an RFB with a carry handle mounted scope]

It will, and it lines up properly with the openings.  Then your only issue is turning it on and off.

IIRC its the standard rail mount version.  I don't have one myself, but I remeber seeing someone replace their stock optic with one on an FS2K

I just took my optic variant out and found some issues with my cover and optic.  The cover is melted on the top rear left corner, the rear "grommet" is hacked up (cut and shredded), and my optic actually moves forward and backwards in it's mount about 1/2".  If your optic moves in it's mount, maybe that's why you had issues with a consistent reinstall?

yikes, did previous owner do that? Or heat from the gun? Mine doesn't have play in it. FN pulled a Mossberg by putting this over-the-top shite on an otherwise fine gun. Same for the mag that came in the box, it's like they skipped the entire testing process for the Standard.

Bought it NIB.  Other defects on this one, too––I'm going to start a thread.  No return call from FN in 48 hours after leaving three messages...
