Ive had an issue nagging me for a while with my SCAR and I finaaly looked into it tonight. I have a specterdr and when I first mounted it and bore sighted it it was a bit to the left but I figured it was a bore sight issue. After the first sight in (@ 100 meters) I had to move my windage even further to the left. With the elcans the entire windage arms or wings are exposed and I could clearly see the scope was sitting more to the left. It kinda bugged me but it shot great even out to over 500 meters. Im the kind of guy that the little stuff bugs me so I took a closer look at my barrel and at the point it comes out of the upper you can clearly see that the barrel was off the the left (very slight mind you but it was). So I took the barrel assy. out of the upper. First off was the 4 barrel extension screws were NOT at 62in pounds, in fact two were only finger tight, one was right and the other was so tight it bent another snap on torx bit. So I cleaned the area where the extension fits into the upper and the extension itself. Reinstalled the barrel and torqued the screws to spec. Well after that the barrel is now centered in the upper. Who would of thought? Anyway, it made a visible difference in the barrel so Ill get out and re sight in this week and see how much windage I can get back and maybe get my specter centered. So check your screws for proper torque!

I had a similar situation with my fs2000.

About all of the screws in the stock and upper and even optic rail were slightly loose.. I had a random decrease in accuracy and that's when i decided to check, considering the entire rifle is two halves held together with screws .

Good post, good reminder

So this might be why I was off 6" at 25 yards.
Maybe a barrel reinstall is in the future...

Hope you torqued them the proper sequence, and didnt use a torque wrench to unscrew the screws........

Not that I really want to start anything with you as Ive seen your posts on the other threads but yes and no. Yes, proper torque sequence and no on the loosening the bolts with the torque wrench. Your not the only one here with a brain and accses to the proper way of the SCAR rifle.....

It's not a TM, it's a Navy Operator's Manual that doesn't have a public/unlimited release distribution statement.

You have the right to petition for redress, contact your congressman and complain

But right now I have no desire to see yourself or anyone else who hangs out at this website get fined or go to jail because they posted a manual and someone outside of the US viewed it.
Nor do I wish to see anyone get UCMJ'd for posting something that they are cleared for not unlimited release.

The change to all military manuals with tech data in them happened in 2003, there will be no more unlimited distro on maintenance manuals.

Anyway here is the info on penalties for violating the ITAR

http://www.pmddtc.state.gov/regulations_laws/documents/official_itar/ITAR_Part_127.pdf

Just posting tech data on the internet will get you in trouble.

It's on YouTube.  It's the FN video showing barrel removal/installation.

no, the one I'm talking about is the FN video.  Shows a guy dressed up in kit with a voice over.  I'll see if I can find it

Ok, well the video I posted has the torque spec and the tightening sequence - albeit not presented as clearly as an Army -10 TM or a Navy Operator's Manual.

If only someone would chime in on the awesomeness of the XCR over the SCAR this thread would have epic potential......

To the OP, thanks for the feedback.  I haven't checked the torque on mine for a couple of months...going to check them in a moment.
