Bought my 18" SLP for 640.00 + tax. Probably about two years ago. Back before the crazy prices. Now that's a score! I take it you still own the SLP? Good gun? Still own it, feeds everything reliably with the exception of shells that a short brass head(bulk winchester from walmart can be hit or miss) or loaded light on the powder. I run remy nitro express 2 3/4s for quail hunting just for fun(18in isn't much when bird hunting, but I don't have to wait on the birds to get up and out aways before shooting). |
| Thanks for the replies & info..I do appreciate them! I think I did ok as far a price goes, I looked at the website that I bought it from & it went from the $889 sale price up to $1049 regular price...just waiting on my gun shop to call so I can pick it up...already got confirmation that ups dropped it off this AM. |

Make sure your using the light piston, and shoot a mix of ammo rapidly to break it in. Don't be surprised if you have a few ftf's in the first 300-500 rnds. My Mk1 had about 10 ftf's total prior to the 500 rnd mark. Now it never misses a beat. |

100 rounds of 3" #4s broke mine in just fine - light 2 3/4"s functioned fine after that. That is likely a great method of breaking it in..... Thanks for the advice...I picked the SLP up on Saturday & have only been able to visually admire it....need time to break down & clean....then off to break it in. |
| I have a SLP shotgun for a few years now and really like it just wish more aftermarket stuff would show up for this and other fn products. I have it sighted in and adjusted to slugs for 50 yards. Best shotgun I have ever had. I had to get a pump last year to go along with it because the price was right picked up a 870 marine magnum for a song could not walk away from it. Great gun you will like it add a shell holder to it and you will use them up. I have had a Benelli and like this better. |

Quoted: I'll mention that neither my SLP or my 870 run on Winchester value pack. AA is another story.Quoted: 100 rounds of 3" #4s broke mine in just fine - light 2 3/4"s functioned fine after that. Could you give me a name brand ie. Remington or Winchester? Thanks! |

Just like Cole said, I'd probably stick with Remington, or better quality Winchester stuff. The value pack stuff is light, and is one of the only loads I "had" a malfunction with. I've not had that issue after break in, but I don't shoot it unless I need something cheap and its all they have. Try heavy Remington loads for break in, then shoot anything you can find to see if it'll ftf/fte. |

Just ordered a fiber optic front sight for my SLP. MUCH better than the factory white dot:
