Is it just me or did anyone else fond out thet the torx screws FN used for the lower barrel rail are mad out of butter? Even with some PB Blaster soaking and heat they still stripped right out. I just replaced them with normal black oxide high grade allens. Come on FN.....

I've never had a problem with mine.  Are you torquing them at the proper spec when you reinstall the barrel?  What torque driver are you using?

I havent removed the barrel, just the lower rail. Plus FN decided to strip one for me when they put mine together with green loctite. I didnt torque them to any spec cause they just hold the rail on. If I did remove the barrel, I would get the specs from Fn and use my 1/4" inch pound Snap-On tourque wrench. The barrel screws are speical captured screws too....

Same thing happened to me. I think that its the loctite that they use. The rear screw was in there. It took me a while to get it drilled out.
I bought a shit load of 10-32 torx and allen head screws in stainless and carbon steel in case it ever happens again.

Juts waiting top get the bbl back to get the gun back together.

This is a well known issue due t the use of steel screws in an aluminum block.  This is one feedback issue coming from troops that have been issued the Mk16.  FN is either fixing or has fixed the issue, but no idea when this will trickle down to civilians.

The issue I had was the torx head itself stripped not the threads. I dont see an issue wit using steel screws in aluminum threads (the rear is steel on steel BTW), the issue I see is FN needs to back off how tight they put these screws in and not use green loctite.....

Heat the screws first to loosen the threadlocker.

I said I did in my first post. Used a small torch on mine. I also said that FN stripped one out for me before I ever touch them....

I mailed mine to get cut with the lower rail attached, I figure if anyone can get it off the right way it would be by a machinist.
