I was reading another post and was giving my .02 when I started to question some stuff. I now have a few questions about my PBR I bought from CDDN back in Dec 08. I know CDDN bought most if not all the old PBR's and barreled actions when FNH closed the N.E. factory to move everything to S.C. and these were bought by a lot of people to include two that I bought. CDDN sold the PBR's as NIB factory rifles at least thats what I was told on the phone when buying mine. I have a 2008 FNH dealer catalog. All the PBR's come in a Hogue Full Aluminum Block Stock. Reportedly CDDN is now saying their PBR's they are still selling come in the Hogue piller stock which is not factory according to the catalog. I know the Hogue after market stock that CDDN is selling to go with the barreled actions they are also selling are the piller bedded model. Is CDDN just putting barreled actions in after market Hogue stocks and selling them as factory new?? Is there a way to check to see which stock I have without taking apart the riffle? I was wondering this when I got it at my dealer and looked at the sticker on the box. The FNH sticker did say rifle or something like that where as my barreled action Fnh sticker I got said action or something close to this so I wasn't worried about it. But now I see this other post that CDDN is saying their rifles come in a piller stock I'm questioning this again.  Has anybody else checked to see what stock their "factory new" CDDN rifles came in? Any thoughts about this?

Is the fore end floppy or really stiff? Thats the easiest way to tell. I am kind of surprised that they'd be putting them together with crappier stocks and selling them as factory. I haven't looked into it but thats not cool if they are. I have one of their barreled actions(1 of 3 left) and its super accurate but not in a crappy floppy stock.

They did sell stocks with full length bedding blocks too, thats what I bought with the 3 actions.

CDNN bought all the actions from FN - I don't know that any of them had stocks when they got them.

Even if they do not have the full bedding block stock they are a great deal - substantially less than what FN sold them for.

I would replace that spongy stock with an HS Precision anyway!

Is there a HS Per. that fits them?

I put a Model 70 HS Precision varmit stock on my XP. I love the Hogue pistol grips but their rifle stocks have much to be desired.

Was it just drop in or did you have to do any work on the stock to get it to fit? Does yours have DBM?

I'm the guy west is talking about who brought up the info about CDNN selling their PBR line of FN rifle with PILLAR bedded stocks. The CDNN salesman told me that only the XP series has a full action bedded stock. And if you look in their catalog they are selling the pillar bedded stocks separately. I just aquired an XP barreled action with the DMB, so now the search for a decent stock is on. I may try and pick up a Hogue take-off from someone for the time being until I can swallow the pill and plunk down the cash for a HS or McMillan stock.

Talyn, is the HS stock you used, listed for the M70 (pre-64), or was it made for the FN specifically?

I bought a PBR from CDNN back in Nov/Dec of 08.  It wouldnt surprise me.  I mean they were selling those for hundreds of dollars cheaper than anyone else and that includes me having to pay sales tax.

Stazi...did I miss under stand your other post? I read it as you got a complete new rifle and they told you it came with the pillar stock. I'm reading the above post now as you got a barreled action and CDDN was saying they only had pillar stocks to sell for them?

I guess I confused you a little.

The stocks that come on the complete rifles at CDNN, is as I stated - only pillar bedded stocks on the PBR, and fully bedded on the XP.

I ended up buying the XP barreled action from somewhere else as I can put together an XP now, for the same price as the PBR.

The only catch is finding a fully bedded stock from someone who has one as a take-off (or just using a pillar bed one), or I go aftermarket and drop $400+ on a HS or $500+ McMillan.

So for now I am looking for a FN take-off stock - so if anybody's got one, please PM me!

Just spoke with Stocky's and he said the FN's are a WInchester 70 "Classis" action, not really a pre-64. He has a HS Precision Varmint and a Bell and Carlson Medallist SA Tactical that will fit the FN's with a little inletting required for the DBM's. So I ordered on of the B&C's which will take 6-8 weeks. In the mean time I will keep looking for a used factory Hogue stock to use until the new stock arrives.

My PBR has the aluminum full-length bedding block embedded in the stock. There is also a blue FN logo on the bottom of the pistol grip. I looks to be molded into the stock.  I bought my rifle from CDDN last summer. I want to replace the stock but not right now. I have had good luck with my stock and the groups are fine with me.

Have you tried adjusting it yourself - it's pretty easy.

CDNN has great prices on closeout or special items.....JUST make sure you realize that if you were to purchase it from another source you would most likely end up paying more $$$.

They have great service and great staff.....ALWAYS ask questions before you put it on  a thread......

Thanks for your reply....if you read the whole thread you would see it was a question if poeple were being told different things about the guns. Read the WHOLE thing. I think some where in the last 15 days I said this post was due to a misunderstanding of what was posted on another thread.

I had one,  Great rifle at a great price,  I got the 308 fluted action and ordered a stock from them,  even with just the pillars the rifle shot 1/2 MOA with Black hills 168.

I like CDNN and have spent a lot of money with them. They are not above a little trickery to sell a product.
An example is their advertised M14/M1A 25 round star marked magazine. CDNN advertises it as an "Israeli Military Magazine",
"GI Spec" . Cheaper than Dirt advertises the exact same mag as "made in Taiwan". I have some of each and can't tell them apart.

The original post was asking if CDNN was taking barreled actions and putting them in stocks and then selling them as
complete factory assembled rifles . I would say it is a possibility, but also believe they are still a bargain.
I also believe a sales rep at CDNN would find out if asked.

I thought this was over but since people still want to post.....I have spent some money at CDDN myself and would have no issues buying from them again and I download their newest catalog as soon as they post it. I have spent a lot of time researching the FNH line of bolt rifles after I bought mine from CDDN. When I first found CDDN I wanted a PBR XP 20" fluted in black(which they were advertising) but was told they were sold out. So I bought a PBR 20" reg bar. A few days later I bought a PBR XP 24" fluted barrel action (which just now found its home in a new A-5 stock). A few months after buying I started wondering a few things based upon info people were posting on what they were buying. Now the first issue I had with CDDN is FNH does not list any PBR XP coming in a black stock but CDDN was selling them. Next was the sales person told me they were out of certain models but since then have several months later sold more of the models I was looking for. Now the issue here is FNH sold all their stock of bolt guns to CDDN and have not made more for over a year now so how was CDDN getting more NIB rifles they were out of. Now I am NOT trying to complain about CDDN or say they are a bad company. This whole thing was meant to see if people were being told diff things about what type of stocks the factory rifles came in. FNH did not sell a factory made gun in a Hogue piller stock. All their factory guns came in full block hogue stock––this means both the PBR and the PBR XP (unless the FNH dealer catalog is wrong and the person answering the phone at FNH). ANd some of these things maybe very easy to explain. Its possible that FNH just threw guns together using what ever parts they had on hand so they could dump everything on CDDN. At this point I really do not care. I am explaining all of this so people stop posting that I'm trashing CDDN-which was never the point here.
