I just committed to what amounts to another 3K rifle with accessories- the AUG, if I'm going to to get one more before the Millhouse the Messiah rolls in (or soon thereafter) and I have to pay 2-3K for the SCAR Light I'd like to at least get the damn thing in black.
Anyone have any info on when the black ones will be showing up? Last thing I want to happen is pass on the FDE and miss out all together. |

The real problem w/ a dye job is disassembly of that complex stock. The lower should be fairly easy for a good smith to remove the trigger pack & components, & the upper is a straightforward aluminum refinish job. The additional cost - for a rifle that's already in the $2700.00 retail pricepoint - is yet another factor to consider.
I've handled one of the gen-2/3 SCAR-L protos & it definitely was a nice piece. I recall reading that the police would be sold black-finished versions, but that apparently didn't come to pass. I emailed Bob Ailes at FNH & was told that FDE is the only planned color at this time. I'm just a little disappointed on this issue. I have 4 on order but haven't decided if I will gamble & wait for black from-the-factory or go w/ FDE. For the pricetag, I am not feeling too compelled to compromise on what I want, even for threat of a ban. Might have to wait to make the call on this one. |
| When the fs2000 and ps90 first came out I called FN and was told the only color will be green. Then the packsge deal for dealers came to light called them again no black. So i got both in green, Now black is all over. But I got to like green so much I' m hoping for the AUGS to have green. If you can get one in any color I would not pass it up. Sometimes a rifle in black looses it's lines. A good looking FDE rifle imo is the sig 556 swat. I can't wait for the SCARS to come out! |
