I finally got to get down to arizona last week and play with my FS2000. I have a Gemtech HALO silencer on my gun attached to the modified phantom flash hider on a 14.5" barrel. The gun is suprissingly quiet and if not for the other shooters using the range I would have had no problems shooting it without ear protection.

Had to have a class three manufacturer do it as it is less than 16" he then pinned the FH to bring it back to 16.3" before transfering it back to me

Well IIRC the 2000 has a 17" barrel. If your smith is any good with a milling machine you can have him drill the original pin out and turn the LH 5/8 X? threads on the end to 1/2 x 28 and not loose any length.

So you would not have had a permanently attached FH, unless that was what you wanted.

The FH is permanatly attached for two reasons
1. My barrel is not the 17.4" FS2000 barrel it is the 15.75" military F2000 barrel The FS2000 barrel is chrome lined while the F2000 military barrel is made of chromolli steel.
2. The barrel leagally cannot be threaded per 922r Thus the factory pinned muzzle device. so anything you change it to has to be pinned in place regardless of the barrel leingth.
