Got another PS90.  It's the TR I think with no sight.  I like it better than the green PS90 I have with that gawd awful sight.  Put a  Eotech on it and ran 200 rounds with out a hitch.  The more I shoot these things, the more I like them.  I just need to set up some targets so I know what the rounds will do against plywood, Sheetrock, etc.  Anybody try any barrier test on the different bullets, or can direct me to info on barrier tests?

You know about Old Painless and the box of truth right?  If not you might do a search for him and it.  That should start you in the right direction.

From what I can find OP and the BoT has done no real 5.7x28mm testing. On his board there is a thread but it just says they think it is a weak round.

Congrats on the new gun!

U do know U can mount a rail on you standard PS90 by removing the stock sight, right?

I finally got to handle a couple of PS90's with the USG and standard ring sight. The USSS sight is so much better just from the few seconds of looking through it.  I still think I did the right thing with the TR model, as the built in BUIS's are pretty plain, and not adjustable.

The last time I shared emails with Old Painless, he said he would do 5.7x28 testing if someone provided him ammo and weapons. Since you're in TX, you might want to look him up and see about getting 'er done once and for all.

I read the thread on the 5.7.  It has a link to another site and info on the 5.7.  The problem I see is that it deals with a P90 & 10" barrel and the data is dated back in 2003.  So I wonder how the new ballistic tip bullets work in penetration and depth.

IIRC, the 5.7 gel tests I have seen with SS197SR showed 15-16" of penitration. I will try to see if I can find where I saw them...

I wouldn't recommend the 5.7x28 for hunting elephant unless of course you have the cyanide tipped plutonium rounds.

I guess I should have elaborated, some of his testing methods are pretty good and would make for good review before you go out and start blasting things.  Pay his opinion on the round no mind, it is just some guys opinion.  Ammo and firearms are tools and you should always choose the most appropriate tool for the task at hand.

There was a guy that did some testing with wet phone books and 2 gallon plastic water jugs with the 5.7x28mm I remember reading somewhere..I'll think harder and post up a link when I can recall it.
