looks like a remake of an original. maybe to replace a broken or lost unit. maker marks do not match any known examples. font and size are wrong. If you agree its a fake, pass the word. |
| We can all agree that the letters are not what is usually seen, but it may simply be that a worker used the wrong letter stamping die for the link. The link looks to have been made by the same process as other SWD links. I doubt it is fake, I'd think the tooling needed to accurately fake an RLL would cost more than an RLL. I also believe anyone who would go through the trouble to duplicate the rest of the link's appearance would be able duplicate the more common lettering. I'm calling this one a rare factory variant, "pre-coffee monday morning" link. |

Just hard to believe that a piece of paper that a politician signs can make a small piece of steel worth thousands and thousands of dollars ![]() Pretty much like how an original Armalite AR-15 can be worth $275,000 just because its rare & it was shot off the back of an assassinated president's yacht.. If they want it, they will pay big bucks for it, no matter what the cost |
Not really. An Armalite AR15 is an actual weapon. A lightning link is only a piece of steel that would be about $5 or less if there were no anti-gun laws. Something that can be made in a machineshop in a few minutes should not cost $6k+ because the Hughes Amendment was snuck in . Heck, I would be mad just about paying the $200 for the tax stamp for a piece of metal. Thats just my opinion though.
