One more question is that really the SN# on the lower or a photo shop? If thats the real # its awsome!! LOL! No that's a photoshop job the first three digits are real, then I just copied the 0 over and over. That way I don't expose my real SN, but it still looks nice not having a big black out bar over it. I don't think Colt starts their SN's with a zero anyway. I'm sure the first serial number is xxxxxxx1 for example. I could be wrong though.

I think it looked pretty good to begin with. The finish wear under the charging handle is to be expected and will reappear pretty quickly if you shoot it. I certainly understand the desire to make it perfect, but with an original factory machinegun, I lean towards staying original unless original is really, really ugly.

Some questions since they are not answering the phone.... Did you Form 5 the receiver or just send it to them? They list two prices for a refinish of a lower, did you pay the $150? Is that the 'pre-ban grey' Joe O I just sent it to them with a copy of my Form 4. Victor takes his time and stops the production line to manually do registered receivers seeing how they are so expensive. He does the type 3 hard anodizing which is $150. I sent a USPS MO for $150, plus a return shipping label. I'm sure he would do something cheaper if you wanted him to, but why? If you can afford a RR, $150 is nothing... The "color" I had him do was Colt black. It matches perfectly with my R0977/LE6921 upper receiver, however my R0933/LE6933 upper receiver is still a bit more "black" (It's newer.) I don't really care about it matching, rather I wanted to "clean it up". |

Victor always responds to emails so give that a try. Andre This. All of my communications with him were over email. It's easier and that way you have an electronic copy of your communications that you can print up and send with the package so he knows exactly what to do. |

Looks great! Any problems with pins fitting or other tolerances? I'd like to send him mine to get some scratches out of the finish. Everything fits just like it did before I sent it. Perfect! Quoted:
Looks good. Do you have any before pics? I didn't take any before pictures with the receiver "stripped" and propped up on the vice block, but I do have some others that you can get an idea from. On the right side fence there were some good dings with exposed aluminum, as well as the area below the charging handle was really scraped up. It's all clean now and even a little darker which matches up better with my newer Colt uppers. Overall I'm very pleased with their work. http://nfa.mobley.org/R0653/IMG_2193.jpg http://nfa.mobley.org/Colt_HK/IMG_1998.jpg http://nfa.mobley.org/R0653/IMG_2196.jpg http://nfa.mobley.org/R0653/IMG_2199.jpg http://nfa.mobley.org/R0653/IMG_2202.jpg That lower was barely used and I've seen worse marks on NIB Colts. |

Looks good as new . What GEN of KNS pins are those? GB KNS Gen 2 Mod 2. Basically they are Gen 2 pins that look like the Gen 1 pins. Rated for full auto fire under 9mm and suppressed short barrel. The actual trigger pin is the same, just the hammer pin is solid and has a "notch" that holds the arm which runs to the trigger pin. I really like these pins. If you already have KNS gen 1 or gen 2 pins, they'll upgrade them for cheap. |

now do you need to do a 5320.20 to ship a m16 reciever to them? Im not sure of the paperwork required to mail a NFA weapon to be worked on. What lisense do they have to have to recieve a NFA weapon? Standard 01 FFL? No you do not have to fill out any forms to get your lower redone. Only time people fill out forms is when they are having major work done that takes a long time and even then its not necessary but a good idea. The dealer has to have any SOT. Just a FFL will not do. I'm sure TonyK will correct me if I am wrong. |
| Correct, no form required. However, it is a good idea to include a copy of your Form 1/4/5 and a letter listing the work to be done. That way, if ATF should drop in for an unscheduled audit, the FFL has paperwork to prove (a) the NFA item is registered, and (b) he is authorized by the owner to have possession during the work. Most FFLs want this documentation as a CYA. |
