Since my replies to my own thread never show up, I thought I'd post my reply to the thread here. It always happens and can't seem to get a reply on the problem. Well I did a test today and the results seemed to work. I tried the stock buffer but that didn't work at all. I encountered bolt bounce from the first round. So I reinstalled the H2 buffer. In my 11.5" upper I had the original BCG that was in the gun when I purchased it. It was used except the bolt assy was replaced recently with a new one. So, used Bolt carrier, new bolt. In my 14.5" upper I had a new BCG. I swapped BCG assy's and both uppers ran like a top. I'm assuming the used BC was worn on the inside just enough for gas to be blowing by the new bolt rings while in the 11.5" upper. In the 14.5" upper, this isn't an issue. Both bolts passed the stand-up test without collapsing. So I think I'm in the market for a new bolt carrier just to be safe. Thank you everyone for all of your input! |
| Sounds like you're getting it narrowed down, but I would recommend using the "good" bolt in the "bad" bolt carrier, just to verify that the problem is indeed the carrier. If THAT works, then the problem is NOT the bolt carrier at all. I suspect that your problem lies in one of the bolt's subcomponents. The reason being is that bolt carriers don't often wear out, as they are usually chrome lined steel on the inside. If it is an out-of-spec. carrier or one which is not chrome lined, then it might be the problem. |
