Got a little money burning a hole in my pocket and thinking about a second MG purchase.

A complete M1919A4 appears to be running $15k+ which is possible but I would be more comfortable keeping it to a sub $10k purchase.

I have found complete parts kit for around $1,000 - 1,500, im assuming all i need is the side plate.

How much does a Registered side plate cost?

Anything else i need to know about the M1919?

You're not going to save any money buying a registered sideplate and assembling a parts kit -- if you can find a registered sideplate on the loose. Last I heard, D. L. Oefinger had a few sideplates but he was saving them to sell as complete guns.

Actually, in the full-auto world, an M1919 at $14,000 - $15,000 is a bargain compared to some of the other alternatives. Remember that you are buying the paperwork more than you are buying the actual parts.

Sideplates alone were $12k plus last time I looked, then add the parts kit and paying a builder on top of it, and you're not likely to get into a 1919 for under $10k, or even much under the $15k you say you're seeing now.

And with a beltfed, you need a bunch of other parts.  ie:  Tripod ($250-$1500), Belt loading machine(if you plan on using belts) ($100-$1000) - belts $5ea, Linker ($200-$400) - .308 links $.07.  And then ammo.  Any 30-06 milsurp is running $.60-$.75 per round.   .308 milsurp about the same price as 30-06.  Wolf .308 is cheaper and works ok.

Lots of money to spend after you pay your $15k.

Good luck

Yeah realistically it looks like $20k would be needed for the whole setup. I think ill hold of for now as that's more than Id like to spend ATM.

Could always go with a shrike to have something belt fed but at $5k thats a really expensive upper
