| i have a question about a full auto mac45 i see them sell for about 4500. My question is there a reson i couldnt buy a raw ar forging and machine it just right to take the fire control group from the mac to create a full auto ar15 for fairly cheap.. Or is it the receiver of the mac that is registered any info appreciated thanks |

Or is it the receiver of the mac that is registered any info appreciated thanks yes there is a reason. because no new machine guns have been allowed for civillian consumption since 1986. the method of conversion wouldn't make any difference (unless you are using a LEGAL transferable conversion device which will be every bit as expensive as a transferable MG). |
| While the FCG isn't the registered part, there is precedent of taking an existing MG receiver and dropping into a new "host". The Stemple-based MGs from BRP Corp do this. I can't see a MAC-10 receiver in an AR-15 host receiver however.. it'd be huge! Not to mention the original MG part needs to remain unmodified so you're limited to pistol caliber rounds in the MAC-10. |
