Can I purchase a 11.5 barrel before my stamp gets approved ?    I know that I cannont assemble it with out the stamp and lower.  Just wanto to know if I can get the barrel ahead of time.   If I am able to I plan to leave it in my locker at my place of work.   This will be my first SBR so im new to this NFA stuff.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Sure.  Keep it at a friends house until you are approved.  Better safe than sorry.

Or use it as an excuse to setup a pistol for an additional $200 or so

Im sure a lot of us have done it that way, I have always feared the constructive possession BS though.

I would just wait, or mail it to a different address and leave it there.

Reciently, one of our officers was talking to some BATF agents that were in town about "constructive possession" and how it was enforced. Long story short, they had no idea what he was talking about. I think this is one of those laws like mandatory seat belts. Just something else to hook you on if you were breaking the law some other way. While I have no intention to test out this theory, I don't worry about it.
