| If i buy a a m4 with a 10.5' on it. how would i get a permet for it? and what if the guy he got it from did not have one to?..... im thinking about buying it just not sure if its worth my time thanks... |
| I would stay away from it. My guess is that someone built the gun from a stripped lower, so that is how they got the 10.5" with out doing the whole SBR process. Which means its an illegal gun. Any dealer that would sell a complete gun would know what an SBR is, and the process for getting it. You would have to do a form 4 transfer for it if it is a legal gun, but again, my money is on it is not a legal gun at this point. |

If it is not legally registered, it is worth ten years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine for whoever possesses it. Stay far, far, far away from this gun. |

could u still get it registered? You could buy the lower from him, and have him keep the upper. Then you fill out a Form 1 and submit it, along with the $200 tax. When it is approved in a couple of months, you can go buy the upper from him. Bottom line is until you have done the above and have the BATFE-approved Form 1 in your hand, you cannot legally own or even possess or have access to, both the lower receiver and the upper receiver. It is much simpler (and probably cheaper) just to buy a new AR lower receiver (or take one you already own), submit the paperwork and pay the tax, and when it gets approved, buy a brand-spankin'-new 10.5" upper. It certainly is a wiser approach than getting into a business relationship with a federal felon, and that is what the seller is right now. Even just posting on the internet that you know someone like him can get you into trouble, and yes, BATFE does read this forum. Forget you know him.

What are you worried about? 10.5 foot long barrel, well over 16" Also, might want to make sure its not a 10.5" with a 5.5" xm177-style flash hider permanently attached |

i got in tuch with the guy and he said he did not do anything to the barrel and that it's a 16inc on it. my friend just did not know what he was talking about... he sent me a picturehttp://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a67/justindoll/145m4_rr_w_Aimpoint.jpg
this makes my second m4. for some reason people are selling them like candy here... is there a law about how many one person can have?
