| I just put together a 7.5" upper in .223. About every 5th round it will fail to extract the round from the chamber and the next round is jammed behind the spent round in the chamber. I am thinking the bolt/carrier is moving rearward before the brass cools and can be extracted. I am using an M4 stock and buffer. On Del-Ton's site I found this www.del-ton.com/CAR_Buffer_Counterweight_p/bs1050.htm. Is that what I need? |

Have you upgraded your extractor? D ring- o ring or heavier spring. Try that, my 7 1/2 runs great with a stock buffer and spring, all guns are different so you might need to experiment a little. You will know if you need a heavier buffer after adding the extractor parts because it will launch the empties into the next county What type of ammo are you shooting? What brand of upper components? Lower? |
No I haven't upgraded the extractor. Ammo is 54gr tracers, 24.5 gr BL C2. Works fine in my M4 and varmint upper. Upper is a keyhole upper and bolt/carrier from Del-Ton. Barrel and gas tube are from Model 1 Sales. Lower is DPMS. Where can I get the parts to upgrade the extractor? |
Do you just put one on top of the spring? |
Remove extractor, place ring over the spring with spring sticking through center of o-ring, and re-install extractor.... you'll need some thumb pressure to align hole for the pivot pin to slide back into place. |
