Got my upper back from PWS today, and Todd decided to laser a special message for me in the gas block...

DocCheney, GloryBigs and Headhunter22 (from Henderson Defense) took the upper out today and ran it, including a few mags full auto, and said it ran well.

Dean from PWS came down today and got the shop set up as certified installers for the PWS system, and we got a few shop guns installed with the kit also.  We all will be running them hard and trying to break them....but we are all pretty optimistic.  The system design seems very squared away.

I threw my gun all back together and snapped a few pics.  I need to mess with it and square away my vfg position, and try to figure out something different for my light.  It is gonna get torched by the comp in the position it is currently in.  I am also going to try out the tapeswitch panel and see if i like that also.  I might have to downsize to an insight procyon or surefire m300.  the pentagonlight seems HUGE on a shorty.

Damn!  See what you miss when you're not paying attention.  Where have I been?  Looks like I have some reading to do.  Very interesting.  I thought Ares was the only game around for this style of system.  Very cool!

The more I read about this system the more I think my savings account is going to suffer.  Your setup is looks really appealing.  I like the scope and side flip ring config.  Yum.  Please keep us updated on your experiences.

I need something in the 10.5-12" range that would stay suppressed most of the time.  From what I read, the PWS system works wonders on suppressed guns.  Any first hand experience running yours suppressed?  What do you think about the recoil.  I read one claim that it was supposed to be less...is this true?  I hear that the bolt/receiver gouging is minimal.  Have you run enough rounds to see if this is the case?  I'd love to hear about durability.  The thread I was reading (from the company) did not mention any negative reliability or durability issues.  Finally, (1st in a lot of people's book), does it actually run as clean as claimed?  In other words, how's about a full blown range report.

took out to zero.  1.5 inch groups at 50 yds shooting off the mag as a monopod.

Turns out the flashlight cant take the blast from the brake being so close.  ended up taking it off and throwing my ssl-1 on it.

moved the VFG forward a bit.  Like it better there.

this is before i took the light off.

Nice rifle.  I don't approve of the childish laser etching though.

Can you install one of these systems on a 13.5 in 6.8mm upper?

Each to his own. It's neat, as long as it's not on my gun. At least, when it comes to working guns. Then again, I'm grumpy.

If I sent an upper out and it came back with that unrequested engraving, I'd send it back for removal/refinishing. With my gear, there's always the chance that it will end up as evidence in a courtroom, so I'm very picky about markings. Don't want anything on my guns that an opposing lawyer could use to sway a jury's opinion of me.

If you like it, cool. Whatever works for you.

the "not for rectal insertion" was actually one of the safety rules in the PWS manual.  Henderson Defense and PWS work very closely together, and i had given Todd a ration of ribbing regarding the safety manual.

Then later i mistakenly told him to "laser something funny on my gasblock"

What you see is the result.  This was a joke between friends....nothing to get all testy about....grumpy guys.

and as for the fella who does not "approve"...that is ok, your approval was neither requested nor needed..

Obviously it is if you feel the need to explain why its there.  I am glad PWS does not make this standard

i am explaining to everyone that PWS is not some redheaded step-company that plays pranks on all of their customers.  this was a one time thing.

lol I thought it was funny in the world is going down the toilet sort of way.
My wife owns a curling iron that states not to use "internally" as it is hot
enough to burn you. I thought at first some lawyers for PWS saw it as a
potential problem and wanted to make sure. It's still funny to me eitehr way.

I don't think I can buy one if it doesn't have the warning on it.  I'm afraid I might get sued by some Liberal.
