I have a single shot 12 gauge that I would like to register as a AOW.  I've done a couple of SBR's, paid my $200 tax, and been on my way.  But, i've never done the AOW thing.  Do I just fill out my form 1 accordingly and send with a check for $5, or am I missing something?

It isn't eligible to become an AOW if it's ever had a buttstock on it.  It can become an SBS though.

It's $200 to make an AOW on a Form 1.

Yeah, the $5 tax is only on the transfer of an AOW, not the making of one.

Looks like that POS single shot goes to the back of the safe again

Find a C3 who can do the "conversion" for you. its a $5 transfer tax. It is that easy. Aslong as they charge less than $195 you come out better than the form 1
