Hello, i'm looking at a mac-10 at my local dealer that is registered in 22, 9, and 45.  I am looking into 22lr uppers for it because that is what i would want to shoot mainly due to ammo costs rising.  Does anyone have any experience good or bad w/ the "subcal" upper for these as seen on subcal .  Thanks for any help.

SWubcal is a fucking rip off.

If you really want answers, check out the mac section at Uzitalk.com and find the subcal thread.

That one may work.  I have confidence in the designer.

I believe he is working on one for the M11.  A MAC10 version might come out after that one.  Don't hold your breath, though.  He's just a one-man show, and seems to be pretty tied up with his MAX-11 & MAX-10.

As noted by others, he won't release anything until it's 100%.

I have two of the subcal uppers, one for my MAC 10/45 and another for the MAC 380,
I agree with the above comments, they don't work.
I have talked with the guy at Lage and got the exact same response.
Really nice guy but he is working on the MAC 11 stuff right now.
I let him how that there are alot of us out there with MAC 10's that would snap up
a .22 upper if he could get one out.
I also know a guy in my area who has made a 22 upper for the MAC 10
that he says runs like a sewing machine, but is in the process of BATF approval/patent protection.
I don't know how long that will take but I am first on the list

Well, I couldn't wait any longer.
I took out my dremel and did a little southern engineering and go the thing to run.
I put about 600 rounds through it this weekend, enough to break the welds that hold the bolt to the slide.
I had to grind out the extractor groove on the barrel to get it to extract reliably and also grind out some of the bolt that was hanging on the magazine feed lips.
The first 200 rounds ran so good my grin met at the back of my head.
Then the bolt started to bend a little and I kept working on it and shooting until it finally boke, it also broke the extractor.
It isn't what I would call a finished product but it sure was fun.
I am ready for another manufacturer to put one out there.
