I've been an 07/02 for five years and am going to do my first DD build. US M2 60 mm mortar. I have my form one filled out and ready to go. A DD is a class 10 firearm and is not covered under a 07/02 license. HOWEVER my question to someone that has done it is this? Do I need the cleo signoff and picture and print card if my business is building the weapon? i am a corporation and have read that this is the case, but would like more first hand info if possible?
thanks! |

No. It's not covered by his license. Since the entity is a corp, no Cleo or photo or fingerprints required But a cert of compliance is. |

I'd like to hear about how one accumulates the parts to build a 60mm mortar. Also any tips on which parts need to be made would be great too. If you are definitely committed to the project, I would start looking out on Gunbroker and Ebay for relevant parts such as firing pins (you can find them for 25 ea if you wait), sights, and barrel cover/slings (you can find new in wrapper stock from 1945 for around $100 if you keep your eyes peeled). Many of the materials for a project like this are very random in their availability, so don't waste time if you are definitely going for this, the pieces may not turn up again or may be of vastly inferior quality for higher prices sometime down the road. Just for reference, this entire project has taken me somewhere in the neighborhood of 3 years, and somewhere in the neighborhood of 3k. The barrel I found as part of a group buy on 1919a4.net, and the cup I made from prints I got off Gunbroker. All the accessories such as the ammo crate and field phone are completely optional, but make for a pretty cool package. I still need aiming stakes and calculators. If you want all the manuals relating to the M2, just IM me with your e-mail address and I'll send them out in .PDF. |
| The processing time on a DD Form 1 for a SOT is still several months. My buddy just got his approved Form 1 back and received the cup for his M2. The guy selling the kits and cups ships the kits when he receives payment but will not ship the Title 1 cup until you provide him a copy of the approved Form 1. |
