Would anyone here be interested in a device that fired multiple handgun or rifle rounds at once from a 40mm? I've been toying around with the idea and design for one, and have a friend that is an SOT and has a 40mm launcher so yes, everything would be above board. But my question to you is, how cool would it be to shoot, let's say, three .45ACP rounds at once? Or, one that can fire 45ACP, LC, and .410?

Let me know.

What about a longer barreled version that shoots .22 Magnum ?

How cool would it be to have one that fired rockets?

All in all, if you don't see it on the market, most folks won't know exactly how cool it would be. Your best bet would be to make a few prototype pieces and get them working reliably, then to show them and videos of them working to then see how many people were interested and responded well to your idea once they've seen it.

How would shooting several 45 acp rounds at once from a subcaliber device differ from simply reloading a 12 ga shotgun shell with three 45 heads?

[#6]
I think the multi sub caliber one would be best. From what a few owners of beehive rounds have told me, the recoil of just under 20 22lr rounds going at once is a little snappy

Not really, no. I have several adapters and the most recoil is from my 10g using turkey loads 3" Mags. The 12ga with slugs and buc is next. The beehive is somewhere around 20ga or so. GROG

Now a beahive round would fire multiple rounds with one pull of the trigger.  Is there a ruling somehwere that makes that not a machinegun?
Just curious.

I don't think they can rule against it.  No reloading mechanism and multiple barrels.  I guess rigging up a string to 2 triggers on 2 single barrel shotguns and pulling the string would constitute a machine gun.

i'd agree with Grog, i haven't fired any of the shot gun adapters but my 22lr adapter isn't that bad at all.

the bark is much worse than the bite from 20 22lr rounds you can see some just starting to trace in front of the muzzle flash.

No, no "ruling" however it does not meet the definition of Machine gun as written in ATF regs. Same as a "pepper box" not being a "machine gun". Read NFA definitions of machine gun. GROG

wow, that is a great blast.

What kind of spread do you get out of the beehive at say, 10 yards?

Cool video Tom. I like the multi shot adapters. Reloadable SHells is coming out with either a 4 or 5 .410 /45 Long Colt adapter... Cool stuff... Keep your eyes on GB for the next few months. I'm sure there will be some things that people have never seen before... GROG

So how do I go about purchasing one of these? The tube needs to get registered as a DD?

Thanks. NVM. Found some. Pretty expensive.

Man, with all my machining skills and machines in my home shop........would be a fun project to machine some of these beehive rounds.

Too bad I don't have any kind of a launcher to justify it.

But I do!!

You should buy one, I only have about $1,800 into my LMT 203 since I bought everything used.

I do need a project...   :)

I need to design and print one up for the machines. I can get the automatic machines to blank most of the part OD's, ID's, Hole Patterns and lengths. And doing the rest of the work on manual machines at home. I'll just need to work on the steel barrels. The firing pin plate is easy.

mine doesn't have steel barrels, just smooth bore aluminum.  the 9 shot ones have steel rifled inserts for barrels, i want to try one of those with the tracers as i think that will help them light faster.
i'll be out shooting at highrock tomorrow and then at a friends sunday, IM me if you want to see this in person.

Well, I forgot about this thread but we did make a few prototypes. Best success was with a 3 barrel 410/45lc design. Working out some kinks but should have video sometime soon. Yes, I know there are other similar products, but lets just say our design will put 3 .45cal holes into a fist size group at 20 paces. I hope more progress can be made so I can show off our (mostly my buddy's, but I came up with idea and initial design) work.

Don't bother working on steel liners, you can buy them to reline old barrels in antique guns.
