I am being offered a deactivated RPG-2 launcher for trade. It has a good size hole in cut in the tube, together with welded cross bars. Has anyone ever reactivate one of these? Is this possible? ANy info appreciated.

so, would you plan on building your own projectiles if you did this?

The RPG projectile is a fairly simple black powder rocket, so Yes.

Are you talking LEGALLY - PAPERWORK wise or MECHANICALLY / STRUCTURALLY?

Making a functioning grenade would be more difficult.  Making a wooden mock-up lawn dart to be expelled via the expelling charge - ...?

I've thought about doing mine, but I haven't got past the conceptual stage.  The pg-2 projectile has a black powder launch charge, and no sustainer motor, so that part would be easy.  It's not even a rocket.

I would make aluminum bodies with the transverse primer, and probably use shotgun primers.  The bodies would have a rubber nose cast from an actual PG2 grenade.  Not sure how I would handle stabilization.  Spring fins, like on the standard projectiles would work, but they will get damaged and need to be replaceable.  The launch motor would be disposable, or single use.

Strength wise, I think a properly welded tube would be plenty strong, but I'd do a lot of testing with proof loads and a long string before I put it next to my head.
