Since the last few posts have nothing to do with PICs of M203s I'll add my new toy to get the thread back on track.

DPMS 14.5" SBR
12" LMT M203
RRA NM trigger
KAC rail and QD
COMP ML3 w/ ARMS mount
NM iron sights w/ Quadrant sight

That's a pretty sweet setup and a helluva first post.  Careful using it out at the range - the uninformed locals may think you are trying to start a prairie fire.

Howdy boys and girls... Since my work is quoted and referenced around here quite a bit, I figured I'd drop by and post a photo of one of my set-ups. Here is my 40cal Olympic Arms Pistol upper with my Shivak M203 40mm:

Where can I find a sight like the one in this pic for my launcher????

Here's my 40mm family. Regretably, it has shrunk by 1 M79. I had to finance my Barrett M99 before President Little outlawed them, so 1 79 had to go. No big deal, I'll build another.

grog, what kind of 40mm rounds are those?
Link Posted: 2/24/2009 5:50:39 PM EDT
[Last Edit: okent] [#11]
Looks like the top row is some buckshot with a beehive .22  and two parachute flares
The bottom row has 2 High Explosive rounds, one High Explosive Dual Purpose and my guess is the yellow top is a HE trainer and the one with the smallest gold top is  Mk19 round.
Again, just my guess so don't take it as gosple.

No Mk-19 rounds present in that photo.
Top row from L to R–– 4 M576 buckshot, Pink anodized one is a 10/22 adapter that fires 10 22cal LR or short at once, next is a white star para flare, last is a white star cluster.

Bottom row are from L to R–– M406HE, M433HEDP, M397 OCTOL HE, M381HE (I made several of these for a VFW Viet-Nam Display), M406HE. The HE and HEDP are all inert replicas I make myself. Rounds on the top row are all live. I have a fairly extensive collection of live 40mm rounds of all types, many of which I aquired from James DeGroat, of DeGroat Tactical Armaments LLC. James' collection was featured in Small Arms Review Magazine a few years ago. I picked up many of those when he decided to sell his collection off.
You can see more of my replica work here: http://www.freewebs.com/grog/products.htm GROG

Just your standard 1970-today M16A1/M16A2 USGI M203 handguards. They also made a few in carbine length.

Cause it's very difficult to estimate range between 100 and 400 metres at night.

I guess it's the same answer as to, why does anyone have sights on their rifle? To hit the intended target.

Link Posted: 10/16/2009 12:11:15 PM EDT
[#23]
Yeah... you don't need rifle sights either
That was a rhetorical question and a joke. Did you see the picture of my M4 with M203 after the question? It didn't have a quadrant, leaf, or PEQ. I tried sights, but realised I didn't need them and took them off. After firing a few shots, you get a feel for how high to aim at various distances. I guess I was trying to say that you don't need all of those sights, just a leaf or quadrant would do.

Isn't that a PEQ-4 on top of the gun in the picture you posted?

How is your "feel" for distance, work at night?

I agree, a leaf or quadrant will do. However, not all shooting is done during the day. The picture of mine, will work for both day and night use.

Yes it is a PEQ-4, which is for the rifle and not the M203 which I was talking about. My "feel" for distance at night is exceptional thank you very much.
FWIW, EVERY single person that had one of those laser digital doohickies in my unit returned them to the Arms Room very soon after they were issued. I have only seen 1 or 2 pics of someone in theater with one of those attached to their rifle.

Wow, this is such a fun area to come and post picture.

Could someone please email me and let me know what is acceptable, to prevent future BS comments and critisism. I fugured this was a place to show some gear and have fun. Apparently not. Need a little help here.

Becuase you'd drool all over your keyboard, and ruin yet another computer?
I actually plan on making several short videos soon, firing one each of every type of 40mm round I have. I might wait until spring, as there is 5" of snow here right now, and soon to be more. (Global warming my ass...) The smoke markers might look better with the snow however. GROG

Oh, and as far as why some of us have sights... Some of us actually use our launchers at work, and the ability to place some gas into a second story window from a few hundred meters is desirable. Persoanally, I use my leaf sight exclusively, and hate the quadrant as it tends to get hooked on web gear straps and anything else it comes in contact with. Some people like them and feel they are accurate, but I've never had a problem with the leaf.

Have you ever used the KAC (or similar) red dot quadrant sight? It looks like it would be slow to adjust range like a normal quadrant sight but very easy to aim and accurate.

Didnt realize there was a 203 pic thread or I'd have posted this one before.

Colt M16.
Gemtech G5.
LMT203.
I cant remember if it had the PEC2 or PEC15 on it but its on the other side so you cant see it anyway.
It usually has optics instead of a carry handle.
Both kinds of 203 sights.

Anyone have a price and source for the FN launcher for the SCAR?  If it doesn't cost more than the gun did I'd be willing to buy one after my form 1 gets back and I get my barrel chopped.

IM sent to find out where you got those 203 handguards because that is EXACTLY what I want to do with my SP2. Also how does it attach? Does the launcher just slide into the handguard or is there some other attachment hardware I dont see? Does the whole thing wobble any?
