For guys who have, some questions.

1) Does average professional application fill in and obscure engraving font and/or laser engraved designs (i.e. Dead Air logo)?

2) Do factory finishes on AAC and Dead Air can have a higher or lower heat threshold for discoloration versus cerakote? Would you skip cerakoting your can even if there was no cost involved?

3) Is high temp cerakote have a flatter finish than regular or more satin type or sheen in graphite black?

I know there is a "high temp" version of cerakote. I'm having a Handguard, upper and lower cerakote. Was entertaining doing my can to match the color as it is a dedicated can. The high temp and regular cerakote have different coloring apparently. Do the entire SBR in high temp cerakote for matching. This is not going to be a safe queen. I'm curious to play with the cerakote and see how it wears as this will be thrown in the truck quite a bit.

3) Is high temp cerakote have a flatter finish than regular or more satin type or sheen in graphite black?  That depends on how much hardener is used.

i wouldn't worry to much about the can matching the receivers exactly.  once you start shooting it it will discolor some anyway.

the high temp or c series of cerakote isn't as durable as the heat cured , i wouldn't recommend c series on your receiver's or handguard.

Capitol ceracoated my Saker 762 while it was still in jail.  I've been abusing it on my PWS Diablo and so far the ceracoat is holding up much better than the tan on my Surefires.  No, it didn't obscure any of the engraving on the Saker.

I've always been of the opinion that the more you shoot a can, and the more discolored and used it looks, the better. Keep your gun clean, take care of the cerakote if you want, but use and abuse your can. They look awesome.

Thanks for the replies. I've been shooting the can awhile, and it holds up just fine. I'm switching it from general use to dedicated on another SBR I'm building. The shop doing the cerakote offered to do my can at no extra charge since he was doing the rest of my components. This one is going to get dragged around abit.

I guess I was debating to leave the OEM SDN-6 finish alone as it doesn't need to be refinished.
