I am looking to put 2 cans in jail this weekend if possible and I am a bit overwhelmed with all of the choices.
1st can: I am picking up a Ruger 22/45 with a threaded barrel and want a can for this. I am looking for a serviceable can I can take apart and clean and I would like a minimal FRP. 2nd can: This will be going on my mp5 clone. I need a 9mm can that I can attach via a 3 lug adapter. Looking for a quiet can, I prefer a slim profile if possible and the 3 lug adapter has to be available and not vapor wear like I see on some of the adapters. I would like to keep the price on the 22 can under $500 and the 9mm can under $1,000. Any help would be appreciated. |

For Rimfire, in no particular order, and all in the 350-400 range, depending on your dealer:
Silencerco Spectre II, AAC Element 2, Tactical Solutions Axiom, Dead Air Mask Thunderbeast Arms .22 Takedown You can't go wrong with any of these. The problem right now will be finding one on a shelf. Besides, you'll end up owning more than one. |
|
1st can.........Dead Air Mask, Silencerco Sparrow or Spectre, I have a few guys that like to Surefire 22/s, or the Liberty regulator. I have a sparrow and a mask, and like them both, and would rebuy either if I had to without any issues.
2nd can........Depends on you size wants, the Omega 9k will be small and light, and the Octane will be quieter and a bit bigger. Along the lines of those two are the Rugged Obsidian which is configurable, and the Griffin Revolution which is also configurable. They all offer 3 lug mounts, and share the same silencerco piston usage and 3-lug compatability as well, with different 3-lug build designs, although technically interchangeable. |

Are you ordering or does it have to be in stock locally? if local, you will simply have to choose what's in stock.
If ordering, do a couple hours' reading in this forum and you'll be confident to make what is really a simple choice. Are you eligible for Silencerco speq pricing? |

I have 2 dealers in driving distance so I don't mind ordering but, will check and see what is on there shelves.. I don't qualify for the speq program. I have been reading this forum for the last few months and it just seems like there are so many out there to choose from. I am gathering from some of the responses that there are a handful of cans in my requirements range that are top notch. I'll look into those first. I am thinking of looking at the Octane over Omega 9k. I don't mind the extra length of the Octane to get a bit more quiet gun out of the deal. |
| I was able to get the Ruger on my way home. I got there 30 minutes before close and was in and out in 15 minutes. I am going back tomorrow for the in stock Spectre 2 they have. I am not yet sure on the 9mm can. I'll see what they have in stock and decide if i want to wait fora Octane 9. |

Quoted:
1 - Dead Air Mask or SiCo Spectre II 2 - Rugged Obsidian, Dead Air Ghost, SiCo Omega 9K, SiCo Octane 9 my local shop does not carry Dead Air so i am going with the Spectre 2, they have some in stock. I'll have to check out there in stock on 9mm cans. So far i am liking the Octane 9 the best out of all of the suggestions. |
| as another recent first purchaser I went with a simple great multi caliber can. (omega). I would still love to snag a larger caliber for pistols/bigger rifles as well. Like stated try and grab something you can put on a lot of different weapons! GL with your purchase. |

I'm in the same boat... does anybody have info on these guys?
http://rebelsilencers.com/ $99 for a .22 suppressor seems tempting. |

It sounds like you're sticking with this particular dealer only and if that's the case, you need to post what brands/models they DO have in stock. As you've noticed, eveyone's pretty much recommending the same thing and if that dealer doesn't carry those top tier cans your choices are to settle or pick a different dealer. If they carry SiCo and you only want a can for you MP5 clone, all user reports I've seen indicate the Omega 9K absolutely kicks ass on that platform. |

My lgs carry's a few brands, some of the other ones i remember from yesterday are AAC and Gemtech and a few others i can't remember. I am not tied to the store, just giving them first crack. There are a few other places within driving distance that I can talk to and get a silencer from. |

I'm all for supporting your local dealer if they can provide you what you what. What I haven't read is, are you using a trust and want to beat the July deadline or are you purchasing as an individual? If you're an individual or you don't care about the hassle of prints/photos for all responsible persons on your trust then I'd absolutely wait until you find a top tier can, after all it's a lifetime purchase.
If you're trying to cram for the exam so to speak then I'd call every SOT within the driving distance you're comfortable with to see what they have in stock. Another option is Silencer Shop to a Powered By dealer you choose as they will guarantee filing of Form 4 by the deadline if you order within the next week or so, that might also reveal some SOT's that you weren't familiar with. |

I do have a trust and want to beat 41F but, if the price is to good but out of stock I am willing to wait. I e-mailed a dealer about am hour away that has a really good price on the Octane but, they are out of stock. I asked if they have an eta on the next shipment. THey posted in my HTF a few weeks ago that they got the s/n for there next shipment of Dead Air Mask's, who knows maybe they will get the s/n for there next Octane order soon. I looked online and most of the dealers are higher then the local price, SS is a lot higher on the price of the can, they are about $200 more then the out of stock dealer and that is before you add the shipping costs. I appreciate all the help you guys have given and all the suggestions. There is nothing like the gun community to help out a guy new to an aspect of a hobby.. |

Good luck in your search, the Spectre II is a winner can so you're set there. As far as a 9mm can, lots of reports of the Octane 9 having a lot of blowback on a pistol, but on the MP5 clone that may be mitigated to a point where it's a non-issue. It's a damn shame we constantly have to jump through these fucking hoops that don't do a damn thing, all because of the anti gun pricks that run the Country are constantly trying to take away our God given rights. |

As a lefty i am used to gas in the face, i don't think more will be an issue. I agree it is bs having to wait 5-6 months to get the ATF's blessing. If i can be trusted to buy a gun, why not a silencer, or a mg or sbr. I am going to pass the same background checks either way. |
