Opinions?  Compared to a Sparrow and a Mask?

I may be able to get a demo unit and get it on a Form 4 before 41F... I gather this thing cannot be ultrasonic cleaned? or dipped? due to aluminum baffles.  HTF would I clean a probably-well-used demo?

TIA!

Get the Element 2, way quieter and super easy to clean.

I throw my baffles in a pin tumbler every 500 or so rounds. Never had to use the baffle press, but it come with in case you wait to long to clean it.

Unless it's in stock locally, I'm not gonna get it before 41F but thanks.

Keep in mind if you do decide to get a prodigy you'll have to open it up and tighten it back down while shooting it to avoid getting it stuck together.
At least every 50 rounds. I barely bring mine out anymore to shoot as I replaced it with other cans that are easier to clean.
But on the plus side they are light and do sound really good.

I've got a Prodigy 2 in addition to a Sparrow, 2 Spectre's, an Element 2, and a couple others.

Upside of the Prodigy:

Very light
As quiet as my other cans, very minimal FRP
With the AAC take down tools, easy to dis-assemble

Downsides:

Aluminum baffle and tube so no dip or ultrasonic.  Just clean it every 200 rounds or so with a nylon brush and solvent.  Not that big of a deal.
Monocore so it has some FRP.  Less than my Sparrow and IOU converted Pilot.

I shoot my Prodigy more than my other 22lr cans because it just feels right on a 22/45 lite.  I've had it home over a year now and would not hesitate to buy another.

Here she is after cleaning.  Top can.  Gemtech IOU converted AAC Pilot in the middle and AAC Element 2 on the bottom.  The take down tools are in the lower right.  I do highly recommend those.

Amusingly enough.... just found one, so against the odds, you had the right answer

I'd happily "pay" the extra half-ounce weight penalty for Ti + Stainless vs Ti + Al.  Plus bird-in-the-hand and all that.  Thanks for the recommendations!!!

I think you'll be happier with the element 2. My prodigy is a good can, but imo it's been surpassed by better designs.

One interesting tidbit: AAC lists the weight online as 4.1oz, the owner's manual they have posted (from 2012) lists the weight as 4.58oz.  The prodigy is 3.6oz per AAC online I believe.  I didn't have a scale with me to check, but I supposed even 1oz is Ok penalty for being able to ultrasonic clean it.  I thought it was only 1/2 oz penalty.  Either way, looks like a nice can to have - come Christmas or so when the stamp comes back

I would weigh mine for you, but I'm pretty sure it's got an ounce or two of lead on it.

LOL, no worries - I'm not changing my mind at this point  If I remember, I'll weigh it when it comes out of jail.

The demo prodigy probably weighed 12ozs currently

I love my Prodigy, just "break the seal" after each shooting session to prevent it from getting frozen up with lead and carbon.  It is super light and super quiet, and has had many many thousands of rounds through it in the past seven nine years.  That being said, if I was buying a lightweight 22 can today it would be the Gemtech GM-22.

ETA:  Nine years not seven, time flies when you're shooting steel with a suppressed 22 with night vision

There appear to be 3 generations of Prodigys, and I didn't have the demo apart to see - not sure if AAC is still offering free upgrades, so might be a bummer to get a Gen1 now.  The Element2 seems like a good "compromise" to get BNIB a newer design for about the same money.

They upgraded mine to gen3 at no cost.

Same.  They upgraded my gen 1 to gen 2 around 2011ish then to gen 3 in 2014.  They also paid shipping both ways, I was pretty happy with how I was treated

Mine came as a gen III.  Of the two, I'd pick the Element 2 as well.  I like 'em both.
