So I'm building a 9mm SBR and want a rail that will cover the Octane 9mm silencer.  The Silencerco website says the silencer is 1.37" in diameter and 7.5" long.  The barrel will be 4.5" so the total length should be right around 12 inches.  I don't mind part of the silencer sticking out the end....I just need to find a reasonably priced rail that the silencer can be slid into.  Clearly a free floated rail that also serves as the barrel attachment is preferred.  I'm not a fan of Keymod or MLock and prefer a more traditional rail.

Something kinda like this is what I'm going for:

Thanks for any suggestions.

Edited to provide a good link.

I have seekins precision hand guards for mine but they are keymod.  Adding the thickness of the rails on the outside would make it too big for my little raccoon hands.

9" Aero Precision handguards are a really good value and will accommodate 1.5" handguards:  http://graniteridgeoutfitters.com/Rails-and-Hand-Guards_c35.htm

I really liked the Spike's Tactical / Seekins Precision BAR that I had many years ago. That would be a great choice for what you're wanting.

Thanks for the replies.  The Aero handguards appear to be what I'm going for.
Thanks

Be advised that shooting it WITHOUT your can could blow out the rail.

Could you elaborate? I have a 5.5" barreled SBR with a Liberty Mystic X under an Aero 12" Mlok rail. I fired a few test shots without the can after building it to make sure the rounds stabilized and everything functioned fine. I don't remember anything odd without the can but I did purposefully hold the magwell instead of the rail.

To the OP the Aero rails are great. I run the enhanced uppers so everything is super easy to install. Also look at the Aero Quantum line for additional weight savings as the top rail has been removed.

Is that with all calibers or just whatever one you're talking about?

In 9mm there is almost zero possibility that the hand guards will "blow out" without the can installed.
I wouldn't hold on past the muzzle without the can on, but the hand guards will be fine with that caliber.

He is referring to something like this (http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/06/14/potd-3/)

I know this looks cool and all and I admit I wanted to do it myself for awhile. But it just makes me really nervous to have any part of me in front of where the barrel ends. In my experience with my Octane, the thread on mounts unscrew frequently and the three lug mount sticks sometimes and loosens up. Both conditions seem to be normal which means I have to remember to constantly check the tightness after every mag or two to be safe. This indicates to me that the mount is somewhat of a weak point. So with that in mind, I think it is safer to keep my hand behind the muzzle. A longer rail would give you some other advantages like a longer site radius and place to mount stuff but the inclination to put your hand out there beyond the muzzle would be very natural. I'm not saying don't do it, just think about it.

I find this tread timely because I'm in the same boat... 9mm SBR that I plan to install a 5" 3-lug barrel with an Octane 9HD using the GA 3-lug mount. I too initially wanted a longer (9-10") rail for it but then thought about being able to shoot it un-suppressed?

in fairness, that appears to be a 5.56 build and he's using a muzzle break that directs the gasses out the side. I seriously doubt blow out is a concern with 9mm and no muzzle break but if nothing else, the inside of your rail would get covered in burnt powder. Some of that could burn your hand if extended out past the muzzle and would also be a bitch to clean unless you don't care about that?

The problem IMO is, there are not a lot of short pistol length forearm options and personally, I'm not all that thrilled with the options that do exist? Right now I'm kind of leaning towards splitting the difference and getting a 7" rail with a longer 3-lug muzzle device that I can mount when not using the suppressor that will hopefully extend past the end off a 7" rail when mounted?

My Seekins BAR fits a Saker 762 so the Octane will be fine as well. Very happy with the Seekins SPROV3 setup.

Ahh.  Missed that part.  There's pics floating around of rails blown out from muzzle blast.
