My dad, who doesn't do much in terms of technical research, went and ordered an Omega 9K today. His purpose is to put it on the end of his 5.5" 9mm AR.
I read that this can is pushing 131 db with 147 grain, how does that compare with most full size cans? To be honest, I don't know much about the logarithmic scale and decibels... I have an old ECO-9 that is a very long can and sounds hearing safe outdoors. How would this 9K compare to something like that? Any help is appreciated, I know the old man wants a hearing safe can for his 9mm AR build, but this short can may not be what he's looking for. Thanks. |

I tried out the Omega 9k last weekend on a Glock 43 and MP5K and was very impressed. I had read good reviews but needed to try it in person. It sounded great on the MP5K and I'm amazed at the sound they got out of the little can. Do I expect it to be the quietest 9mm can? No. But on a Glock 19 and 4" SBR AR I want a small can vs. 10" hanging off the end. I do think it's expensive for what it is but I was impressed enough with the performance in a niche can to make the purchase. |

Something tells me your Dad may be a little more adept at research then he's letting on;). |
| For a 9mm AR variant or any 9mm subgun the Omega 9k is the can to get at the moment. I'd say your dad made a good choice for his aplication based on the countless hours of research I've done before I finally came to the conclusion to order the 9k. Its light weight, short, offers good db reduction (especially for its size), and supose to have a great tone on 9mm. |

Thanks everyone, I'll let him know what arfcom thought about the can, especially the folks who got to shoot one.
And no, he definitely didn't do any research, I sent him a link of cans that were in stock at dealers around him... He just got lucky haha. Again, thanks! |
