Sorry if this is a dupe, I ran a search for my situation and didn't find anything.
I went to a LGS today to pick up a transfer and look at their suppressor offerings. I have a pair of 22LRs and then a Glock 19 and a 10.5" 300blk AR15 build that I want to suppress. I was pleased to find they had an Element II in stock at a reasonable price and pulled the trigger on it, so I'm good to go on my 22lr can. While completing that purchase, I noticed they had an Octane 45 HD and asked the guy helping me if they carried an Octane 9 HD, which I'd settled on as my 9mm/300 BLK suppressor. They didn't. He seemed like a very knowledgable guy and recommended that I purchase the Octane 45 instead as the extra "beef" and similarities between the 230 gr .45 and 220 gr 300 blk makes the Octane 45 HD more effective for 300 BLK and it also does a good job on 9mm as well. I was under the impression the larger diameter would make it LESS effective on those two rounds. My primary goal is to suppress the 9mm/300blk as effectively as possible with one suppressor, I'm not overly concerned about 45 ACP. But I do have a Glock 21 so if the Octane 45 HD would be as or more effective on my G19 and 300 BLK build while also allowing me to suppress my G21 then great! Any recommendations, input or thoughts from you guys would be much appreciated! |

I agree with GP, my Specwar is MUCH better than my Octane 45 on a 8" 300BLK. I just bought an Omega for the .300BLK. I would suggest a rifle caliber can for the best suppression and the ability to shoot supers if you want.
And I would definitely go with the Octane 45 over the 9mm. There is only a 3db difference in the two when shooting 9mm - 127db in the Octane 9, vs 130db in the 45. The versatility is well worth the 3db. |
