It will work youll just need to shim it out a bit on the threads depending on which length gas block you choose. Also depends on a short or long threaded muzzle device. I think the .880 would be better than the 1" block on the 10.3. I used a 1" block on a 10.5 and it worked fine. |
| I got to check out my AEM5 in jail today and noticed that I only get 6 1/2 turns. Should I be concerned? |

I’m still collecting parts and apparently, I’m guessing, I need special shims for mounting this on a G$ 556 barrel that’s been thread 5/8x24? All the 30 cal shims that I have seem…large, like they’d interfere with the can going over the barrel. The threading is such that there’s quite a gap between the threads and the shoulder of the barrel, so I basically need to use a super thick shim just to fill the space then smaller shims to time it. The only 30 cal shim kits I’ve got laying around are Dead Air and PWS shim kits (which came with DA muzzle devices for a while)…so I guess I need a specific AE one? |

I can pick up a Colt 14.5 M4 profile barrel for cheap, but...I don't know if they'd be any good for that. Anyway - that's a future thing - off to order a Surefire shim pack. Thanks again!

Right, I have the short Gordon collar, and an extra (as in, spare) short 1/2x28 brake and shim that I didn’t realize I couldn’t use when I ordered it, for the g$ barrel ![]() I even have an A2 upper kicking around..and some 6 hole hand guards somewhere, and a CAR stock somewhere… |

I finally got this put together. It’s not really a clone of anything. I started with a 12.5” barrel. When I sent everything off to Allegheny Arms, Josh called and let me know the FSB was pinned off center. I ended up taking his recommendation and finding an 11.5” barrel to go with a CANSOF mount. I ordered the last DD barrel ADCO had at the time and this is what the rifle ended up being. I still haven’t had a chance to shoot it, but I rattle canned it the other day. The AEM series isn't open on the inside, they are self-contained and use the barrel collar just for alignment and tension. |

I just did that for someone who posted in this thread a few weeks ago. |

So I need some help with setting up a MK12 mod 1 clone. I have been accumulating parts for years and finally put it together this week, I went to try the suppressor fit and something was wrong. The AEM5 was touching the collar before it engages the threads. Turns out the collar shifted while firing without the suppressor. I thought I tightened it well and then used blue locktite. It left a nice little scratch in the ceracoat. Did I miss something here or should I just retighten it, new locktite and try again? I did get the collar and brake off the EE when they weren't readily available several years back. Allegedly they are Allen. |

Make sure the collar is pushed up all the way against the step on the barrel and tighten the set screw into place. |

Collars moving/slipping is pretty common especially with heating/cooling of the barrel with recoil and if you shoot it with the suppressor off. You need to bed it to the barrel with RED loctite if you dont want it to move (thats how recce collars were originally installed). You can also dimple the barrel for the set screw on the collar if that particular collar has one. |

I almost exclusively shoot with the can on and the can holds it in place. Ive also heard that the set screw can affect accuracy if too tight. I dont shoot well enough to tell. |

IMO/IME you can - and I would recommend - using shims on the short brake as well but just starting with the large washer-looking shim to space it out and then using the smaller shims to time it so that it has the additional turns needed. But, your alignment issue could also not be related to that and could just be a slightly off-threading of the 1/2-28 threads or etc. |

Technically you are correct it doesnt matter as the collar SHOULD slide back and seat on the shelf while threading the suppressor on - but in the case of the original question asker above and others with set-crew collars - the set-screw may tighten back up to the barrel after it cools down preventing the can from pushing the collar back to the shelf and the user thinking it's being seated with proper spacing when it's not. Again, this is if someone is shooting unsuppressed sometimes. I get the "I always shoot suppressed" crowd, but some people just dont so these kinds of scenarios happen. |

Sure do the set screw as well. You can dimple the barrel where the set screw will sit too. |

Found a bit of Ops Inc nostalgia this morning in an old suitcase in my closet. It's something Phil was working on before he passed. I remember him talking about it, but didn't realize I had it. Some kind of sound test equipment that one of his electronic buddies had put together. Probably was designed to hook up to an oscilloscope and then feed data into a computer. Just guessing. If I can figure out how to send pictures here, I'll post. RonA |

| I have 2 AE suppressors and 1 OCL5. None of them are on "clone" correct rifles. The AEM5 is the closest on a MK12 upper but I'm using a Magpul stock and grip with a NF ATACR and Area 419 mount. I like them because they are the quietest suppressors going, even if they are a little gassy on an AR platform. |
