Hi there!
I found what I thought to be the perfect hunting rifle (Kimber Adirondack). It is very light, and has a compact 18" barrel with the muzzle already threaded. On the website it lists "Threaded for muzzle brake or suppression" as a feature of the barrel. Here is the problem... The threading for the muzzle is 7/16x28 and the the threading for most silencers (the three that I called about Silencerco Omega, Surefire models, and AAC models) is 5/8x24. Each company told me that they do not recommend any type of adaptor. So before I scrap the idea of the Kimber and look into a different rifle I figured I would ask. Does anyone here know of a way to get a silencer attached to the rifle I would like? Thanks. |

My Friend,
You have two options. Easiest and least expensive way to go is to buy a SilencerCo Harvester. It is a thread on silencer designed for your intended purpose (hunting rifle). Secondly, there is a 7/16-28 insert made for this silencer. Available here, Other option is to have a gunsmith thread that rifle to 1/2-28 (if there is enough meat on the barrel, which I doubt) and use a 1/2-28 mount with a .30 cal aperture. I know that both SilencerCo and AAC make mounts like this. Throw some calipers on the end of that barrel. I'm curious as to the OD just rear of the threaded portion. Judging by the weight I'm guessing it's a really narrow taper. |
