I know you've put a lot of rounds through there. Whenever you get ready to trade it in for a new one, we'd love to see the baffle stack. Any signs of erosion that you can see? |

this is the on posted on silencertalk years ago right? yes Was there anything special about the Freeze plugs, a metal type or heat treating, etc? Do you recal what brand they are? There have been several posted with very low round counts that look much worse than that, and the ones Stalking Rhino had in the 3-5K range were very shot out (they won't publicly share form 1 baffles they recore). |

nothing special with the freeze plugs. I dont know what brand they were. I got them from napa. I never have got the can hot enough to burn the paint off. the knights muzzle break acts as the first 2 baffles and directs most of the hot gasses sideways into the blast chamber. I have never use crap powders, its always been used with 21.5 grains of benchmark and a 62 grain bullet either loaded by me or ADI surplus. I copied my load from ADI and its a cooler and cleaner powder than winchester. Its always been on a 16" barrel.
edit to add. the reality is that after 7 years the average firing rate is only around 30 to 40 rounds a week |

I have never seen a picture of a shot out freeze plug baffle. I have read stories and have asked the story teller to provide pictures but so far it seems that all these baffles are unphotographable because no one has been able to show me a picture. I am not saying it did not happen. I just want to see it after all I basically kick started the freeze plug baffle home made silencer builds with my DIY tutorials and pictures on that other site. I had so called professionals tell me it wont work, it will blow up, it wont last, etc. so here I am 7 years down the track and having no problems except rust but no one predicted it would rust. my 7.62 can got the rusts bad because I use it on an SKS with corrosive ammo but it is still going and works like it did from day 1. I actually think the rust helps harden the surfaces and absorbs heat edit to add: I just did a search for freeze plug baffle damage and not one pic of a damaged baffle came up. all the pictures that came up were my pictures or pictures from people I have helped. all the pictures showed good healthy baffles |

Again.... Posting a small part of the story to further some goal.... Those two cans you are talking about... each had thousands of rounds of FULL AUTO. Esstac's was red hot from a string of 200-300 rounds as fast as he could reload. |

LOL Thank you for getting every thing started for me at least. Thanks for showing the world that the average man can build a working suppressor with no more than hand tools and a bit of sweat equity. Those guys on the other forum sure do like to bow-guard what little info they have to share. even though most of the info is almost 100 years old AHAHAHH What C5HARDTOP has done with valve retainers and his willingness to share information has given this form 1 thing a real boost into second gear. Thanks again to both of you |

But not all FORUMS are as open as ARFCOM I don't think we're allowed to post the names of other forums on here anyway. This is how it would go down me: Yay I found a forum dedicated to suppressors and it even has a whole section for suppressor 'smiting'' me: hey guys I just got my form 1 approved. I want to build an inexpensive suppressor to quiet down some full power loads what length or OD do I need suppressor experts: It depends me: All I want is something that will keep my ears from bleeding suppressor experts: Who are you going to pay to build this for you? me: how long should I make it and what diameter should I build it? suppressor experts: That depends on what type of K baffles you plan to use me:OK after 3 month of digging and deciphering code I think I know what I need. 8in long 1.5 OD 7 or 8 60 cones. suppressor experts: by the $50 book about suppressor patents But don't copy any of them or you'll infringe on their patent

Any chance you can post the video with the suppressed SKS. Also in you opinion is suppressed full power 7.62x39 quieter than .223? I am sure everyone has seen this video by now thats the sks with subsonics. I dont have a video of it with standard ammo but it is loud. the 5.56 is very quiet compared to the 7.62x39 |
