Just got my AAC 9 inch upper back from AAC to get mount removed because it had an inhumane amount of rocksett on it and I could not remove it for the life of me. I was all ready to put on my specwar or phantom tonight and what do I find, the threads are too long; neither the YHM or Silencerco FH mounts will screw all the way to the shoulder, they bottom out on the muzzle with about  2 quarters thickness gap between shoulder and mount. Has anyone else experience this problem mounting other suppressors this upper? I guess I will have to order a shim kit or machined spacer to fill the gap, is this barrel supposed to index off the muzzle? Any help would be appreciated.

Hmmm, that doesn't sound quite right - how long is the threaded portion of the barrel?

Don't have calipers but if definitely threaded too long I think as both YHM and specwar mount bottom out on muzzle without touching the shoulder. This is so frustrating, I have had this upper for over a month and still havent been able to mount a suppressor to it. back to AAC i Guess? My handi rifle threads on both these mounts no problem.

Just use a tape measure.  It should measure 5/8" from the shoulder to the muzzle.  If it is much further back, it will be under the handguard.

Never mind just messed with it again, must have been a burr on thread or something, I cleaned threads and tried again and was careful to make sure it wasn't cross threaded, finally with a little more force and it shouldered down.

Those threads are .620 long. That is not long. Talk to Ruger about long ass threads.
