I've heard some conflicting statements regarding this, but does anyone know if the 3-prong flash hider that comes on the R700 SPS AAC-SD will allow a 762-SD to attach? It's a 51T flash hider, but I've been told that it wont work for some reason. If not, which AAC muzzle brake should I use? (5/8 - 24)

It'll work.

Beware- there were some AAC-SD rifles that shipped out from Remington with a Brakeout timed with a crush washer.

But if yours has a FH on it you're good to go.

As long as it is a newer 762-SD and the mount is a 51tooth mount.

The first generation 762-SD used the 18 tooth ratchet system whereas the later ones used the 51 tooth.

And that applies even though I have a barrel that measures .860" at the thread interface? I though I remember the issue being the heavy barrel diameter?

My Brother just got both of those and they work great together without any smithing.

This really is a pain in the ass and a bit discouraging. One of the reasons I bought the SPS Tactical AAC-SD is because it was 'supposed' to be suppressor ready. I emailed AAC and they ae telling me the deep socket flash hider will not work but the standard socket will. Well guess which one came on my rifle? Yep, you guessed it.

Now I get to either try to track down a standard socket flash hider and hope that it shoulders against the barrel properly or buy a $150 Blackout muzzle brake. I'm not even 100% sure about the brake lining up properly

That's why you time the break to get it to line up properly. Personally I don't like the looks of the flash hider and use the brake exclusively. Suppose to save the suppressor a wee bit as well.

Yeah, the .308 could use a brake anyway and the AAC 51T brake is known for decent recoil reduction. I'm going to get rid of the flash hider that came on it.
