Okay, so I have my Form 1 approved, and the goal is to build a forever rimfire can that can handle most calibers and full auto 22LR. I settled on Ti for the tube, spacers, and valve spring retainers for baffles. I bought a Griffin Checkmate 3 lug mount, and I'll be making a SS end cap. Let me know what you think and provide any suggestions, as this will be my first can... My design was done in Excel, so the detail of the VSRs is not accurate but it is pretty much to scale... And here are the parts I have so far. Still searching friends for a scrap piece of 1" Dia. SS rod... I'm doing this because I'm tired of waiting for my outstanding Form 4s to be approved, and I may file a couple of more before the end of the year for 9MM and a 7.62 just because... |

Since most 22lr are fixed barrels, are you going to use the booster or go with a spacer?
And most cans have a bigger first spacer compared to the rest of the baffles. I think i read either 30% of the entire can or 30% more than the other spacers. Dont remeber which. |

5.1" is a short OAL for a .22 can. There are commercial designs in that length but they use substantially more efficient baffles than yours. Be prepared for it to not sound great next to a commercial .22 can.
Out of curiosity, if you have the machining skill needed to thread the ID of a thin Ti tube for the 3-lug adapter, why not make K baffles or a monocore instead of freeze plugs? |

| Everything is well thought out, my only commercial 22lr can is a a 6.5" and my GSG-1911-22 and 4" AR upper are silent, the bigger cans are really helpful for supersonic rifles. I think you are ok at 5", I chickened out on my 22lr form 1 and I am going with 6" tube. I think a stack with freeze plugs can be tighter because the wall is thin, with the retainers because the neck of the retainers takes up some length. I'm not sure what the heigth of the baffles you are using are, but I have some for 1.030 and the shortest is .33", I would leave a .425" gap at a minimum between the rear of the cone and the front of the next cone, so in my case that would be at least a .705 spacer (.33+.425-.050) I would either clip or vent, but lightly. |
