Does anyone have any experience with the Thundertrap? With the migration over at Snipershide I can't read the older reviews there.
I'd be using it on .308 and .300 WinMag bolt guns. |

I bought one back in 2002 and used it for years. It had great performance, but it was heavy as Hell.
I have no idea if they still use the same baffle stack as they did back then. People tend to discount weight as a factor when choosing a can. Unless your sole use of the gun/suppressor is going to be off of sand bags at the square range, weight is an issue. Even a few ounces is noticeable when it's hung off the end of an 18" or longer barrel. The Thundertrap also had a very tight bore. It is not suitable for subsonic rounds, if that is your plan. I sold the Thundertrap a couple of years ago and replaced it with an AAC Cyclone. I am very happy with my decision. equal sound reduction and less weight. Of course, the Cyclone isn't rated for .300 WM so that may be an argument for going with the Thundertrap. |

I've got a Specwar in jail so eventually I'll have a .300 WinMag can. I've been debating between the Harvester special with a $99 Specter II at Silencershop and the Cyclone special with the Handi-Rifle in .300BLK at Capitol Armory, but I had an opportunity to get a Thundertrap at a very attractive price. I think I'll go back to weighing my primary options. |
