Recommend me a host for my Ti Rant 45. must be factory threaded (tired of waiting on ordered barrel) 1911 style with tall sights a plus
I like the HK tactical and the R1. anything else out there? Whatever you recommend, please state your argument for Thanks
ETA: I have small hands |

FNX45 Tactical is a good host.
Edit: Argument for: - common thread pitch on factory threaded barrel - tall suppressor night sights out of the box plus provision for RMR if desired - 3 high cap mags - decent shooting gun with a decent trigger (not as nice as the USP Tac, but still decent enough) Most people compare it to the HK45 Tac or the USP Tac as they share a price bracket and features, but the FNX has a common rail, night sights as well as 1 more and higher cap mags over the HK offerings. I have a TiRant 45 that I use mostly on a USP Tac. If I was shopping for a new 45 host today I'd be seriously looking at the FN over the HK. |

Sig Scorpion Carry TB, Scorpion TB or if you don't like FDE, The TacOps TB. 1911 trigger goodness, single stack so it's nice and thin, standard light rail for a wide variety of accessories, great shooting guns too. Novak night sights, flat faced trigger, checkered front strap, undercut trigger guard, hogue G10 grips with integrated low profile magwell mainspring housing. It's a well spec'ed out 1911. Check out what some of the knowledgeable 1911's gunsmiths and folks say about the R1. It has a weird bevel cut on the barrel bed that can allow the lower lugs to crash into the frame. This could cause the lower lugs on the barrel to shear off. I have owned HK USP 45's and they are OK, but I love shooting my 1911's more. I also have a Sig P220 SAO with a threaded barrel and it's been great too, but I still like my 1911's more. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5494/9511019045_5dfc9122e1_b.jpg Sig P220 SAO, Norinco 1911 (Storm Lake barrel), Kimber Super Match (Storm Lake barrel), Sig Nightmare Carry with a sig threaded barrel. My personal favorite right now is the sig. I like the 4.25" sized 1911's with a silencer. I just took my R1 and TRP apart. What is this weird bevel cut you are talking about. Side by side these frames/slides and barrel lugs look the same to me other than the extra safety crap in the R1. Not saying you are wrong, just saying I don't see it with these two guns. |

I went with a HK45T for suppressor use.
Pros: Designed for use with/without suppressor Robust design needing less maintenance than a 1911 Excellent reviews Excellent ergonomics DA/SA trigger is very good in SA mode, although inferior to the trigger on a high-end 1911 Cons: Hard to find holsters Standard DA trigger pull (on their DA/SA trigger) sucks. I have not tried their LEM (DA only) light trigger which is reported to be very good |

Now, I don't know if anyone has had any types of failures yet, only time will tell. Could be much ado about nothing. http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=354434 R1:
Citadel Frame:
(Both pictures from Ken Mays) You can see a slight cut on the Cit frame, but it's not nearly as significant as the R1. You need a little there to clear the radius at the back of the lower lug on the barrel. |
