Life will begin with a dedicated CMMG lower. Which barrel and can would you choose? ADCO has nice barrels. I opted for a complete upper from JSE and have no complaints so far. Short term solution for mine is a 45Osprey...but there's an Octane 9 in the pipeline that will spend more time on the AR once approved. |
|
I'm waiting on one of these http://trosusa.com/SMG_Barrels/coltm169a.htm |
|
I'll need to do some reading on the three lug mounting system as this would be new territory for me... |
|
This +octane is what I have on my 9mm AR. Works well |
| The Mystic is a good choice for an SBR, but it's a little long and heavy for pistol use in my opinion. I've got the lighter Infiniti and it's length on pistols makes me use my other 9mm cans for handguns. I also run a CMMG 9mm dedicated lower on an SBR and use CProduct's magazines without a hiccup. Look hard at the TROS 3 lug and Octane for your setup. Good luck. |

I'm waiting on a TROS 5" 3-lug barrel, but in the meantime, I went with a 10.5" Green Mountain barrel for a more classic look. I used an ArmaLite clamp on FSB and put a TROS 3-lug adapter on the muzzle which mates up to my Octane: |

Thanks, I see the love for a Tros with the Octane is the prevalent choice. You guys are making this way too easy, although I will still need to check out ADCO's barrel... FWIW...I do at least have a TROS 1/2-36 to 1/2-28 adapter on mine so I don't have to swap pistons when also shooting handguns. Once suppressor gets here, I'll figure out if the 7" barrel keeps the 147gr subsonic. If not, I'll get the barrel cut down to 4.5"-5" and threaded 1/2-28 and only use the Octane. |

The other is more "tacticool". -bob |

I went with an ADCO 4.5". Have a Octane 9 direct threaded on the end of it. Working great for me. It stays on it full time. Gun pron... http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/p661/lsumakemewanna/SBRs%20with%20suppressors/imagejpg1_zps03cfc856.jpg http://i1345.photobucket.com/albums/p661/lsumakemewanna/SBRs%20with%20suppressors/imagejpg2_zps64cf5dae.jpg That's sexy... |
| It's going to take some soul searching, and a bit more research, to choose between the ADCO and TROS barrels, but the Octane appears to be the overwhelming choice with respect to the can. Form 1 for the lower will be efiled next week after I pick it up, so I have a bit of time here... |

I haven't shot for groups yet but the innagural outing was at the local Grub 'n Gun shoot and hitting steel plates out at 100 yards with it

Okay, now off to find the Octane 9 HD2, at a reasonable price, in stock. I'll have plenty of time for the barrel selection once that's done... If your local, favorite dealer is setup with RSR Group, I see 8 Octane 9's available from them right now, as well as 4 trilug adapter mounts available. |

Very nice. Someday I will have one.

I did have to take a file to the knurling on the trilug mount on the suppressor to get it to fit, but it came fantastic in my opinion. |

Very nice. Someday I will have one (Gemtech Mk-9k). You might want to think about sooner rather than later, since it takes that long for Gemtech to make them it seems. It is an old "legacy" design, and they don't produce them regularly. Hell, my serial number starts with S12, which means it started life in 2012. I have a theory about that, and why it took so long (13 months, and I'm an SOT!) but that is all irrelevant now. I have it, and I'll probably never, ever sell it! |

Where were you able to find an in stock TROS barrel? I doubt there are any other sources other than Mark. I put my order in on March 22nd and I'm still waiting... That's what I thought, maybe he just meant he was going to get one, not that he already got it. |

I've got a CMMG 8.5" barrel with the 1/2-28 adapter for the same reason. FWIW my 147 grain loads stay subsonic out of the 8.5" but my 124 grain loads that are subsonic out of my G19 go supersonic in the CMMG barrel. |
