| I just learned that AAC discontinued this suppressor. I really like mine and have never had a problem, it seems to suppress better than a friend's M42000. What gives? |

I just learned that AAC discontinued this suppressor. I really like mine and have never had a problem, it seems to suppress better than a friend's M42000. What gives? I have metered it 3-4 dB less than an M4-2000 and the quiestest 5.56 ever tested. The 2.5 inches of backspace limited the number of platforms it could be used on. When LE6920 type guns were the norm, it was popular. As folks moved to Mk18 type the silencer did not fit and market share was lost. |

Part of what killed the SPR/M4 too was that the MITER mount was a complicated way of chasing POI shift reduction. Depending on how I align mine before I tighten, it may end up nice and snug, or a bit loose on the mount. The same problem with the 51T mounts where the latch can't catch the next tooth. I had originally gotten it for a Mk12 type rifle, but now that I'm balls deep in Mk12/cloneness, I wish I'd just done the Ops can in the first place. Is my SPR/M4 bad? Hell no, but it's certainly heavy and still adds about 6 inches onto my 12.5" rifle, which makes it the same as my 18" without a can on...
If you can't buy a can for each rifle, I'd snag whatever MITER mounts you can find up. I have 3, 2 brakes and a FH. Eventually I'll get more cans but for now it's the only one I have. |
