So, my Spectre II is about a month into it's eFile process, and I have a couple questions. I could answer some of them once I have it in my hand, I'll go ahead and ask them all right now. The reason for my questions is that the initial hosts will be an AR57 upper and a S&W M&P 15-22 plus an M&P 22 (but the questions don't concern the handgun).

The M&P 15-22 will be cut down to a 4.5" barrel and rethreaded for the Spectre II threads. The upper has a polymer rail that I'll be able to cut to whatever length I want.

The AR57 is a monolithic upper, so I'm having the barrel cut and threaded to somewhere in the 6.5"-8.5" range, depending on the answers I receive.

1. The specs show 5.98" for length of the Spectre II. I've run across a couple suppressors where I've seen slightly different measurements. Will somebody that has one confirm that the actual length is indeed just a hair under 6"?
2. Looking at the pics, the threads on the end cap appear to not be a flat surface. It might not be much different, but what's the measurement from the barrel's shoulder/mounting surface to the end of the can?
3. The other end cap (where projectile exits) looks to be almost flush, but what do you think is the minimum length of suppressor that needs to be left outside the rail to get a good grip to install and remove the can?
4. Is there any real concern to having the mounting end cap stay on the barrel when I start to remove the can? For example, if I grip the tube and start turning, would the threads between the tube and end cap move before the threads at the end cap and barrel? (My guess is it's not a concern, as I would tighten the end cap tighter into the tube than I would tighten the can onto the barrel).

What I'm after is the black version of this 15-22:

And something similar to this, with my Spectre II instead of the Gemtech designed for the upper:

The pics of the AR57 with SAR57 can came from Gemtech's website...found the 15-22 online somewhere awhile back.

Here is my SBR dedicated .22lr trainer with my SS Sparrow under the handguard.

ETA: I see your questions are Silencer specific...sorry.

Looks great!  But, yeah...specific to the suppressor I have in ATF jail.

However, a question for you that would help give me an idea...how much of the Sparrow is that outside of the rail? It'll give me an idea of what different lengths will look like.

I just threw mine up against a tape. It is indeed just shy of 6".

I have a 4.5 inch 22 lr gun with a 7 inch rail and the spectre II.  (Pretty specific to your situation huh).  It sticks out about 2 inches, perfect IMHO.

Thanks!

What about the mounting surface? Is it flush at the end?

This pic makes it look like the length I'm questioning is very minimal:

Would you feel comfortable with only 1" or 1.5" sticking out in order to remove it?

Has there ever been any issue of the end cap staying on the barrel when only gripping the far end of can to remove it?

I would be fine with 1-1.5 inch over hang, that's more what my sparrow looks like under the rail. I think 2-2.5 overhang is better as it gives you a little more to grab a hold of.   Haven't had a problem with the threaded part staying on the rifle when I unscrew it, but i could easily take off the hand guards to get it if that was the case.

I cant help with most of those specifics, but you only need about an inch outside of the handguard. With an inch I can unscrew my 30cal can even with the resistance of the qd attachment.

The spectre II will add approximately 5.5" once threaded on. So just measure from the end of your reciever to the end of your barre and add 5.5".

This is a 4" taccom barrel. Only about 3" stick past the end of the reciever. The rail I'm using is a 7" long.

The rearmost face of the mount is flush.

You may have issues with it unscrewing, assembly torque and installation torque will have to be figured out.
