| Looking at purchasing my first 5.56 suppressor and I've been researching many of the 5.56 cans. Now I'm closely looking at the Specwar 5.56 and it seems like a great can. Well built, some of the best sound reduction, well-received mounting system, SWR has great customer service, the price with mount is great from silencershop...only possible negative is the weight is a tad bit heavy. Am I missing something, is there a downside.... or are the points I stated the reason why it's so popular? |

Looks like the Specwar is what I'll be buying then. Just need to start saving $$$.
One more question. I see two mounts available when you buy the 5.56 Specwar from Silencershop; the Trifecta and one called a "muzzle brake". Is the muzzle brake option the one that looks like an A2 FH with threads on the bottom (its in the video on silencershops page of the 5.56 Specwar). Any reason to choose one over the other? https://www.silencershop.com/shop/swr-specwar |

the brake is different than the one that looks like the A2, the A2 was their original flash hider before the trifecta RS model. I have all three and on my 10.5 the trifecta mount is the only one that the can does not lock up on after large amounts of shooting. The break is loud as hell on my 10.5 as well, but I rarely shoot it without the can on it. No matter what mount you go with you will be happy. I just have troubles with mine seizing up. Call or email me and I will see what I can do about those mounts seizing up. |

Quoted: May be a weird statement but I'd look onto the specwar 7.62 if I was you. Silencershop has some videos showing the 7.62 to be just as effective as the 5.56 plus can work duel purpose if you have any 7.62 rifles. This is exactly what I'm getting ready to do. Based on the video's that SilencerShop has done it looks like with the Specwar 7.62 I'll get some flexibility on what I can use the silencer on. As well as a silencer with just as good of performance on 5.56.

| For me the Specwar 5.56 makes more sense. Besides a Krag carbine from the Spanish-American war I don't have any .30cal rifles and don't have any plans to buy/build any anytime soon. The 5.56 is almost $200 cheaper, 4.5oz lighter and almost 2" shorter than the 7.62 Specwar. Assuming the 5.56 suppresses as well if not better than the 7.62 Specwar (I havent compared the two sound reduction wise) than the 5.56 Specwar is the clear winner for me. |
