Looking into one of these for an all around type can.  Had looked into the YHM 4350 but it won't do a 300 WM.

Going to be used on 223 to 300 Win Mag, hunting, target & plinking.

Any info LIKES or DISLIKES would be appreciated!

Thanks

It's heavy at 24oz but it seems to dominate in the silencershop videos

I have one for those very reasons you listed. Still in NFA jail though.

The LT is at or about the industry standard weight, diameter, and length (20oz, 1.5", and 7.625").  It is also (based on the Silencer Shop testing) at industry standard performance for current gen cans on 300blk and 5.56.  However, .308 performance (and ostensibly other full-power .30 cal) is much worse (to the tune of 6-8dB).  I was considering it as an option until I put together a spreadsheet and saw it sticking out like a sore thumb for .308 performance.

I would say for overall customer service Silencerco will be hard to beat. I've only read about yhm and their customer service online and there have been many complaints but there are also two sides to every story so take that for what it is. I have considered many times one of yhms products (specifically the LT and before that the QD phantom) but never have pulled the trigger.

FWIW I have had outstanding customer service with YHM for my SS 762 Phantom QD.  I am looking to replace it due to its weight and size.  I've been through a LOT of data in the last few days.  I have very specific criteria, however.  I am replacing the full size can and looking for smaller and lighter, without losing performance.  That means the M2 is out, as is the Ti full size (performance is not better).  The 762 SDN-6 is out because I'd need to replace mounts and at least one rail, adding $500+ to the cost.  The LT is out due to the worse .308 performance, plus I'd have to replace at least 3 mounts.  The Specwar was out due to the length and weight, plus rail replacement and several mounts.

That leaves me with the 762 Saker and the YHM MAAD module (which SilencerCo has said they are manufacturing as we speak - well, maybe not on a Saturday night but whatever).  This will be smaller, lighter, and have better performance all around, along with saving me hundreds of dollars in new mounts and rails (some of my rails are VERY close to the QD mounts).

I would not turn anyone away from the Specwar or any of the YHM or AAC products; I simply had a specific goal in mind.

Also, know that by Q2 YHM should have a 13oz Ti version of the LT out.  That light might make it worth the tradeoff in .308 performance for some, as the 5.56 and 300blk performance is on par with industry standard.

ETA: SilencerCo has also been AWESOME for customer service - shouldn't have left that out

I've really only seen positives about YHM customer service other than one guy who had to send his can in twice for baffle strikes.

So a question (I haven't done my home work) doesn't the YHM have to have different QDs for different calibers (I'm not familiar with the YHM MADD system)?

For a 1st buy and being used on different calibers will the Specwar be okay or should I be looking another direction?

Do you have any info on the 13oz YHM, what calibers will it support, etc.

Thanks

As far as I know the same generation 5.56 mounts accept the 7.62 cans but not vice versa. I know that with the new LT mounts and the newer QD mounts there are some combinations that are no longer compatible.

The legacy cans (anything that is not "LT" or "LTA") will allow 5.56 and 7.62 mounts to fit in a 7.62 can.  The 5.56 can will NOT fit on the 7.62 mount for safety.  The LT and LTA have a new mount; the LT/LTA will fit on legacy 5.56 mounts, but NOT on legacy 7.62 mounts - only on the new 7.62 mount.

For instance, I've got a silver soldered 5.56 mount on a 14.5" 5.56 barrel, and then I've got non-permanent 7.62 mounts on my 30cal rifles (300blk and 7.5 Swiss).  To swtich to the LT/LTA from my legacy Phantom, I'd need to buy one new mount (and one comes with the can) for my 30cal platforms, but I could keep my 5.56 mount and use that with the new can.

Silencer Shop has a great video shoing the differences.

The 13oz can is not available yet - it is the Titanium version of the LT.  Available by Q2 I've been told, but YHM is bad about production times as far as I've seen.

I would not steer anyone away from the Specwar for perfomance numbers, but it is long and heavy relative to other offerings in its field.

A rule of thumb that I've learned is get yourself the best can you can afford. I've already picked up a specwar 762, Osprey 45, and a Sparrow. I've got them all in NFA jail but I know starting in march, I start to play with them. I'll probably try to pick up a dedicated 556 can, but I think divorce will follow

That's how it is with me. I really would like a 7.62 dedicated can. I hope the saker comes out soon

I ordered one after seeing the video on silencershop's homepage.  Still waiting for the ATF to approve it though so I can't actually speak to how much fun it is

Question is how do you know what's the BEST.
Done a lot of reading and looking and am confused as to what I want / need!!
I'm looking for the best one stop all in all 300WM to 22 for my first one.
Want it to be quite and accurate but don't want to take out a loan to get it.
So far I'm down to YHM (not sure what model yet) or Specwar 7.62.

Any suggestions!
Thanks

Phantom M2 vs Specwar is a wash IMO. Phantom has a really quick mounting system, is a little shorter than the Specwar. Specwar is a little quieter than the M2 and 2 ounces lighter. Given the minimal price different it's really a wash.

My biased opinion is get the specwar...I will say if I had the money to burn mad sit at the dealers...surefire, gemtech, or the big bore AAC. Check with silencer shop, they sell them all and can give you the best all around answer.
