lol, suppressors inside of handguards. It's like this company is stuck in a 3 year time shift from reality. Literally, this video three years ago might have made think Gemtech was on a good path. I see this now and think they really don't "GET IT"
I see their new core, at least what they are showing of it is a Silencerco Sparrow type of monocore, that's fair enough but their wieghts on their Ti cans are 2-3oz less than good steel cans, so I'm not sure what the point is. I'll look forward to seeing what they announce at SHOT, but I think they should probably spend less on silly operator videos and more on their mounting system, updating the few good cans they have (MK9K), and finding some reason for me to buy their products over the much more refined Surefire, Silencerco, AAC (at least AAC's Ti can anyhow), etc. But, yay, for suppressor porn |

Neat video - always great to see suppressor porn. :)
Between my friend and I we have 10 Gemtech suppressors in our trust. Gemtech's service has been good whether I've had questions on the phone or a suppressor I sent in to be worked on. I have a Blackside and it would be nice to see a serviceable centerfire pistol can with stainless steel baffles that doesn't require an artificial environment. The Blackside pistons are expensive, but they have more machine work in them than pistons from other competitors. The rimfire suppressors are where my interests lie and it will be interesting to see how the GM-22 fares. I asked to see photos of the core and disassembly process but I it looks like I will be waiting till after SHOT to see them. These days, I lean more towards durability and serviceability rather than lightness. My Alpine sounds good and the baffles come out of the tube easily for cleaning. But they are aluminum and require a good deal of manual cleaning versus using the dip or stainless pins. Awhile back they released a limited run of Alpine-S with stainless steel baffles. I asked if there was ever going to be an upgrade path available and was told "probably not". That's a shame - I would upgrade in a heartbeat. I also have an Outback II-D and same story - I wish they still had the option to upgrade all the baffles to stainless steel. and that's my 2 cents... |
