I'm thinking of grabbing a Surefire Socom 7.62 mini. I'd like to be able to use this on my 5.56 Rifles as well but i can't find any information if it's compatible with the 5.56 mounts. Does anyone know if it's compatible or not?

Yes, the SOCOM-762 suppressors fits the 556 brakes.

Does the SOCOM-762 properly index on the 556 & 6.8spc mounts?

Yes it does. The 762 cans index on the 556 brakes, but not vice versa.

Check out this video SK Arms did showing the SOCOM 762 attached to a 556 rifle.
