Just picked up a threaded barrel for my HK45. HK (you suck and we hate you) doesn't include thread protectors.
Do you think it's money well spent to purchase/use thread protectors?

Buy them.  A ding on a thread could mean your can won't fit.

Do the math.

A thread protector is less than $30, whereas a replacement barrel is $150 and up depending on the make/model of the firearm you need to re-barrel.

I've got thread protectors for all my barrels and a few extra laying around just in case.

If a Suppressor aint on it a thread protector is. Even if its a spare barrel in the safe it's got one on it also.
